Principals Message:
It was a great week in our Eagle Nation.
- Thank you to everyone who attended our "Pay for College Night" on Tuesday. It was one of the best turnouts of students and families we have had at this informational event, and they learned more about all the resources available to support our graduates' college plans. For more information, check out the CHS College and Career Center News Newsletter or the Centennial High School College and Career Website.
- Thanks to all of you, we had a great turnout for the Fall Conference. It was a great time for teachers, students, and families to connect and talk about each student's growth. We appreciate all the students and families who took the time to meet for conferences and look forward to partnering with all our students and families for continued success for the rest of the school year.
- Great Job to our CHS Cross Country Student-Athletes, Coaches, and everyone who help us host the CHS Cross Country NWOC League Meet for the first time in many years (See all the Pictures)
- Thank you for supporting our Eagles Student-Athletes, who continue to excel by showing up and cheering on our Eagles in fall sports. Seeing all the Centennial Youth Football and Cheer teams recognized at Friday's game was also exciting. Several of our games this Fall have had some of the latest crowds we have seen for that sport cheering on our Eagles. Way to show your school spirit! Go, Eagles!
Our CHS Band did an outstanding job performing at the Gresham Area Chamber Breakfast Meeting on Friday. Also thank you to the CHS Kitchen staff who did a great job providing breakfast. Thank you for giving up some of your days off demonstrating how awesome our CHS Performing Arts program is and representing our Eagle Nation at this community event.
Progress reports will be mailed home next week, so check your mailbox and track your grades on Student/Parent VUE. There are only six weeks until classes end for Trimester 1. So, to improve your grade, check with your teacher and make up any missing work today to show what you know and excel!
Remember, "Once an Eagle, Always an Eagle" at CHS!

Message from CHS Counselors
Massage from CHS Counselors:
Sleep is Important: Dr. Matthew Walker is one of the champions at the forefront of helping people improve their relationship with sleep. He has done countless interviews, has a viral TED talk, and has written numerous books on the importance of sleep and why we must prioritize it. His website, https://www.sleepdiplomat.com/, offers links to these resources and has a weekly newsletter and podcast episodes. Take a look, and rest well!
Early data from our student needs survey indicates that 45% of students who responded struggle with healthy sleep habits. Sleep can play a major role in our health and well-being, including our mental health. Sleepeducation.org is a great resource to find information on healthy sleep habits. Here are some quick tips they recommend for healthy sleep:
Keep a consistent sleep schedule. Get up at the same time every day, even on weekends or during vacations.
Set a bedtime early enough for you to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep.
Don’t go to bed unless you are sleepy.
If you don’t fall asleep after 20 minutes, leave bed. Do a quiet activity without a lot of light exposure. It is especially important not to get on electronics.
- Establish a relaxing bedtime routine.
- Use your bed only for sleep.
- Make your bedroom quiet and relaxing. Keep the room at a comfortable, cool temperature.
- Limit exposure to bright light in the evenings.
- Turn off electronic devices at least 30 minutes before bedtime.
- Don’t eat a large meal before bedtime. If you are hungry at night, eat a light, healthy snack.
- Exercise regularly and maintain a healthy diet.
- Avoid consuming caffeine in the afternoon or evening.
- Avoid consuming alcohol before bedtime.
- Reduce your fluid intake before bedtime.
