Digital Learning Services is issuing a challenge to all campuses! The campus with the highest percentage of earned Digital Formative Assessment badges from November 17th until January 3rd will win! (What will you win? Bragging rights for your campus, a group photo in our DL Smore and the district newsletter, and a jeans pass!)

BrightBytes Survey - UPDATE
Congratulations to Chavez Elementary for being the first campus to get 100% of teachers, administrators, and students to complete the survey!
Reminder as You Prepare for the Upcoming Holiday Festivities
Please remember that it is not permissible to post photographs of your students on your personal social media accounts (this includes but is not limited to Facebook, Instagram, and, Twitter). The District is allowed to post photographs, with parental consent, to District and School social media. This right, however, does not extend to an employee's personal social media. LEISD School Board Policy FL(LOCAL) states the following:
Directory information for District students has been classified into two separate categories:
1. Items for use only for school-related purposes; and
2. Items for all other purposes.
SCHOOL RELATED PURPOSES: For the following school-related purposes—yearbook, school newspaper, honor roll, athletic programs, recognition in local publications, and other District publications and announcements— directory information shall include student name; address; telephone listing; electronic mail address; photograph/image; date and place of birth; endorsements, honors, and awards received; dates of attendance; grade level; enrollment status; most recent educational institution attended; participation in officially recognized activities and sports; and weight and height of members of athletic teams.
ALL OTHER PURPOSES: The District shall not release any student directory information to third-party requestors.
Information that identifies a student is considered directory information, including photographs. These items are not to be disseminated, except by the District with parental consent and only for school-related purposes.
When Thinking About WHY We Are Using Technology....
- How does it improve or enhance the learning?
- How does it shift the focus to the students, putting them at the center of the learning?
- Does it require curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity?
- Does it allow students to accomplish something they could not without technology?

Canvas Corner
HTML Editor and Two Interactive Websites
Canvas allows you to embed some websites into anywhere you see the HTML editor. Even more exciting, students could interact with those websites without leaving the Canvas platform. By the way, the HTML editor is available in Announcements, Discussions, Quizzes, Assignments, Pages, and the Syllabus. Imagine the power these tools can bring to instruction!
The two websites listed below have a "share" button which allows you to copy and paste the embed code inside a Canvas page.
Padlet is a free, online "virtual wall" where users can post notes. It's a great place to collect media, thoughts and files from students. The best part is that you can copy the share code and embed on a content page inside of Canvas. Padlet works like a piece of paper. You create an empty page - a padlet - and you can put whatever you like on it. Upload a video, add a recording, snap a selfie, add your own text, or upload documents, and voilĂ ! a padlet is born. Make it even more beautiful by choosing custom wallpapers and themes or add your own.
Ways to Use Padlet in the Classroom:
Brainstorm topics of study
Collaborate on group projects
Thinking maps
Responses to reading assignment
Word wall
Exit tickets/Check-in or check-out
Classroom stations
Showcase work
Gather feedback
Poll Everywhere is a platform that allows teachers to create polls that students can respond to via Poll Everywhere app, web browser, text message, or Twitter. Teachers can create and display questions on the fly, including Q&A and multiple choice polls. Questions can be presented from inside of Canvas. Audience responses are displayed in real-time. Poll Everywhere has a free and paid version. NOTE: The paid version allows for censoring.
Ways to Use Poll Everywhere in the Classroom:
Exit tickets
Lesson feedback
Subject matter review
Lesson starter/Bell ringer
Classroom decisions
Student progress (assignment completed)
Types of Polls Available for Embedding:
Multiple Choice polls
Word Cloud polls
Q&A polls
Rank Order polls
Open-Ended polls
NOT available for embedding: Clickable Image poll and Survey poll
