Preparing for Kindergarten

Dear Families,

This Smore is designed to support you and your kindergartner with the arrival and dismissal process, whether they will be riding the bus or being dropped off and picked up each day.

Our fifth-grade Safety Patrol supports kindergartners at dismissal in two ways. The bus safeties meet students in the kindergarten wing and walk them directly to their buses and/or to pick-up. The hallway safeties, as well as many adults, line the hallways during arrival and dismissal to direct students around the building.

Each kindergartener that plans to ride the bus will be given a tag to keep on their backpack throughout the year indicating their bus number. This is another layer of security to ensure that your kindergartner rides the correct bus each day.

The Garnet Valley School District uses Infofinder I (linked here) for student transportation schedules. InfoFinder provides online access to assist in finding your child’s bus number, pick-up/drop-off locations, and times. Any questions please email transportation @ transoffice@garnetvalley.org.

A note from the Transportation Office about Before & After School Care:

We understand that many parents use before and after-school care to accommodate their work schedules. The transportation department will transport students to certified before and after school care locations within the district. Please use the Before & After School Request Form to submit your request.

Drop-Off:

Drop-off runs from 8:40 - 8:55 AM each morning. Students remain in the gym until 8:55 AM, when they are permitted to go to their classrooms. If you arrive after 8:55 AM, you will need to park in front of the school and walk your kindergartner into the office.

Pick-Up:

Pick-up runs from 3:20-3:30 PM. If students are being picked up early, parents must arrive at the main office before 3:00 PM. After 3:00 PM, all students must be picked up via the pick-up line outside of the gym doors.
