Superintendent Allison Brown Welcomes Students Back to School
Superintendent Allison Brown and the principals of all five school buildings welcomed students back for the new academic year on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
Harbor Hill Elementary School also hosted their third annual “clap in" for their first grade students in the afternoon. Faculty, staff, and the student body gathered in a circle on the blacktop to cheer and welcome the first grade students to the Harbor Hill family.
Roslyn Welcomes New Teaching Staff
Roslyn School District kicked off the new school year with the first of a four-day New Teacher Institute to welcome 19 newly appointed teachers and 7 new teaching assistants. Following a warm welcome by the entire administration team, the newest members of the Roslyn family jumped into training sessions that included safety and security measures, classroom preparation, IT instruction, and meetings with building principals.
Roslyn School District Marks 23rd Anniversary of 9/11
The Roslyn School District marked the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks with a day of remembrance and reflection. Students, faculty, and staff throughout the district were encouraged to wear red, white, and blue to show solidarity and honor those who lost their lives. Teachers were ready to address difficult questions as students learned about this pivotal moment in the nation's history.

Roslyn Board of Education Tours District to Celebrate Exciting Campus Upgrades
On Wednesday, August 28, 2024, the Roslyn Board of Education embarked on their annual district-wide tour to ensure that all buildings were ready and prepared to receive students and faculty. They also reviewed a series of newly completed campus upgrades.

Bus Orientation Day at Heights
Chase and Skye from Paw Patrol joined Principal Mary Wood and Superintendent Allison Brown at the annual Heights Kindergarten Bus Orientation on Tuesday, August 27th. Children and their parents had the opportunity to meet their bus drivers and learn important safety information. Youngsters also signed a Certificate of Commitment to Heights School.

Fifth-graders at East Hills hosted their annual car wash on Friday, September 22, 2024. They raised nearly one thousand dollars!

Full STEAM Ahead
Students in Mrs. Hendler's, Ms. Raevsky's, and Mrs. Greenberg's third grade classes had a blast completing the Saving Fred STEAM Challenge. Students in Mrs. Goldin's second grade class created and built their own roller coasters. Student's in Mrs. Himmel's fourth grade class were challenged to make a paper bridge that could withstand 100 pennies. Many more fun STEAM Challenges to come!
Bright Beginnings for New Buddies
Ms. Hintermeister's 5th grade class and Mrs. Palladino's 2nd grade class met for the first time to interview their buddies. The buddy program allows the fifth graders to mentor and serve as role models, and the second graders are thrilled to have an older friend to look up to, confide in, and play with.
Little Artists at Harbor Hill
Mrs. Gibbs's art program at Harbor Hill Elementary School is in full swing! First-graders are working on their Bridge over a Pond of Water Lilies inspired by Claude Monet. Third-graders are learning how to create texture by re-creating the Sunflowers painting by Vincent van Gogh.

6th Grade Orientation Day
Middle School Scavenger Hunt
Eighth-grade buddies paired up with their sixth-grade buddies to participate in a scavenger hunt at Roslyn Middle School on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. The students worked together to locate various and "hidden" items around the school building. It was a great opportunity for the sixth graders to reconnect with their eighth-grade buddies and become more familiar with Roslyn Middle School.

Marching Bulldogs Attend Band Camp
On Monday, August 12, 2024, 173 Marching Bulldogs set off to attend band camp at Camp Taconic in Hinsdale, Massachusetts. During their week-long stay, they learned and practiced the drill for their 2024 production titled, “Equilibrium.”
High School Freshmen Orientation Day
Roslyn High School welcomed the incoming freshmen class for orientation on Monday, August 26, 2024. Students got the opportunity to meet with administrators, received a tour of the building from their upperclassmen, and were treated to a pizza lunch. Big welcome to the Class of 2028!
Five RHS Students Invited to 2024 NYSSMA All-State Performing Ensembles
Roslyn School District is proud to announce that five students have been invited to be participants or alternates for the 2024 NYSSMA All-State Performing Ensemble(s) in Rochester, NY, on December 5-8, 2024. Thousands of students auditioned for this honor last spring at solo and ensemble festivals throughout the state.
Six RHS Seniors Named Semifinalists in 2025 National Merit Scholarship Competition
Roslyn School District is proud to announce that six Roslyn High School students have been named Semifinalists in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Competition. Congratulations to: Ethan Berkowitz, Sarah Fernbach, Ethan Lee, Elaina Li, Benjamin Quadri, and Anika Tolat.
Roslyn High School Welcomes New Students with Breakfast Meet and Greet
Roslyn High School’s student government, the Organization of Class Councils (OCC) hosted a Breakfast Meet and Greet in the high school cafeteria courtyard during second period on Friday, September 20, 2024, to get to know nearly two dozen new students who moved into the district this academic year. Students participated in an icebreaker activity and received some Roslyn swag.
Roslyn Teacher Scott Segal Authors Chapters for Nationally Recognized Textbook
Roslyn High School English teacher Scott Segal was invited to serve on the Content Advisory Board for BFW (Bedford/St. Martin's, Freeman, & Worth) Publishers' American Literature and Rhetoric textbook. He spent the last year reviewing the current content and making suggestions for the second edition.
Roslyn Seniors Participate in National Voter Registration Day
The Roslyn Social Studies Department partnered with Bryant Library for National Voter Registration Day on September 17, 2024. Adriana Zappolo from Bryant Library was on hand to provide students with voter registration forms as well as important information about volunteer opportunities. Senior social studies classes were afforded the opportunity to register and pre-register to vote.
Marching Bulldogs Sweep Competition
The Roslyn Marching Bulldogs took home a first-place victory at the Copiague Competition on Sunday, 9/22! In addition to first place, the band won every single caption award including, best music, best effect, and best visual. Congratulations to the entire marching band on a job well done!
New Administrative Roles & Appointments
The Roslyn School District was pleased to announce several new administrative roles and appointments for the 24-25 school year. Sandra Stueber assumed the role of Dean of Students at Roslyn High School. Justin Gabrus transitioned to Assistant Principal at Roslyn Middle School. Daniel Mulhall is now Assistant Principal at Harbor Hill. Rachel Barshak assumed the role of Assistant Director of Pupil Personnel Services/Special Education. Spirit Week at Roslyn Elementary Schools
Heights, Harbor Hill, and East Hills elementary schools all hosted pep rallies in advance of Roslyn's Homecoming Celebration. Members of the varsity football team, the cheer team, the Organization of Class Council (OCC) and the Marching Bulldogs performed for the youngsters, who greeted them with handmade signs and pom-poms.
On Friday, September 27th, the high school hosted a pep rally in the gym. Students, faculty, and staff filled the bleachers to cheer on all the sports teams, watch students compete in several games, and see a performance by the Roslyn High School Cheerleaders.
Roslyn Homecoming
Despite the rain, Roslyn sports fans gathered on Saturday, September 28th, to cheer on the Roslyn Bulldogs during their homecoming football game. Saturday's events also included varsity and junior varsity volleyball games in the school gymnasiums.
The day kicked off with the annual pancake breakfast at 11 AM in the Roslyn High School cafeteria, where administrators and staff served up fluffy pancakes to the community.
Marching Bulldogs Host "The Sound of Long Island Spectacular"
On Sunday, September 29, 2024, the Roslyn School District hosted its first-ever NYS Field Band Conference home show at noon at the Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium on the LIU Post Campus in Greenvale, NY. The show called, “The Sound of Long Island Spectacular,” featured ten performing groups from all over Long Island, including, of course, the Marching Bulldogs!
Not only did the Marching Bulldogs win first place in the Small School 1 (SS1) category, they also won high caption awards in General Effect Music, General Effect Visual, Field Music, Field Visual, and Ensemble Visual!
