Volunteers Needed
And a huge thanks to our equipment handlers. We couldn't have done it without you!
Now that football season is here we're going to need plenty of parent volunteers for our halftime shows. Please look for a separate email from the lead Chaperone Sherry Curran each week for volunteering for the football games and contests opportunities to help with our fabulous band and color guard.

Summer band 2023 has concluded! Thank you to everyone for making it such a success. “Fantastique” is off to a great start! Let’s keep pushing this week to have a great first halftime performance on Friday at Challenger Stadium!
A huge thank you to Mrs. Shurtz and all the volunteers that made the BBQ night a wonderful ending to our summer band!
Mandatory Forms:
All band students must turn in the “Signature Forms 2023” in the folder linked below and turn them in no later than Wednesday August 23. Students will not be allowed to go to the first football game next week without these forms on file!
Other activity students who do not participate in marching band may disregard the marching band agreement. The Handbook Acknowledgement and the Social Media Contract must still be turned in.
Paper copies of these forms are available in the band office per request.
Pep Rally:
On Monday, August 21, we have adjusted the rehearsal time to 3:30-6:00 so that students can get home a little earlier. New to Lake students will attend classes that day, and all other students will need to report at 1:15 pm in their show shirt (Fantastique) to play for the pep rally. Student should wear the same show shirt to rehearsal that afternoon. Color Guard will need to be in their red color guard shirts.
Friday Night Lights:
Our first football game is this Friday, August 25. Students will need to wear their heat uniform (cap, game shirt, blue shorts, marching shoes, and low-cut black socks), color guard in the red guard shirt, black shorts and guard shoes. All students will need to bring their red water jugs, and musicians will need to have a flip folder with all music that we will play in the stands. Flip folders are available in the band office for $10. Students are not allowed to eat while in the stands, so they will need to either eat the game meals previously purchased or bring a snack to eat between run through and loading the bus. A regular game day schedule is below. We will use this schedule, with very little adjustment, for every 7:00 football game.

3:00 Run through on the turf field in full heat uniform
3:45 Loading crew loads instruments
4:00 Eat game meal in the cafeteria
5:00 Depart for Challenger Columbia Stadium
7:00 Kickoff
~8:15 Halftime performance
~10:30 Return to CLHS
Private Lessons
There is no better music instruction than one on one with a professional on your instrument. We have a wonderful staff of private lesson instructors who are ready to help you make region band, area band, all state, or just get better and contribute more to the band program. If you are not already in lessons, please consider giving them a try and see if you find they make a difference. Students interested in private lessons need to fill out the form linked below and turn it in with a $25 enrollment fee to a band director.
School Owned Instruments
Students who use a school owned instrument will need to pay a $75 a semester fee. Forms will be going out to students this week and payment can be sent in via cash or checks payable to “CCISD”.

Band Fee Deadline Aug 22
Band fees are now past due! All students (band, color guard, other activity students) need to pay the activity fee by August 22nd.

If you just need to order game meals, select 'Meals Only' on the first page. Game meals provide dinner for students before football games. If you do not order Game Meals then you will need to provide dinner for your student.
In regards to equipment, the online stores are now closed. We have very limited supply and sizes in stock. Students will not be allowed to go to the first football game without the proper equipment.

MARCHING UNIFORM DISTRIBUTION UPDATE
Last week we assigned a bibber (overall) and shako (hat) to each student during afternoon practice. A Great Big Thank You goes out to all the volunteers who helped!
Your child should have brought their shakos home last week. The bibbers are not quite ready to take home yet. We still need to finish pressing them and a few need some further alterations. The directors will make an announcement in class when the bibbers are ready to go home. The students will keep their marching uniforms at home for the duration of marching season. While at home, please keep the bibbers on a hanger so they do not wrinkle. More detailed washing instructions will be provided later.
