®️April SEL Trait - Empathy®️
Good afternoon Riverton families!
As we welcome the month of April, I am excited to share with you that April is Autism Acceptance Month. This month is a time dedicated to celebrating the unique strengths and contributions of individuals with Autism. This month, we join millions around the world in recognizing and promoting acceptance, inclusion, and well-being.
World Autism Awareness Day observed tomorrow, April 2, marks the beginning of this important month. Established by the United Nations in 2007, this day aims to raise awareness about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), promote early diagnosis and intervention, and advocate for the rights of individuals with Autism. This year's theme, Advancing Neurodiversity and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), underscores the importance of inclusive policies and practices that support individuals and contribute to global sustainability efforts.
At our school, we are committed to fostering an environment where every student, regardless of their neurodiversity, feels valued, understood, and included. We will be engaging in various activities throughout the month to educate our students, celebrate differences, and promote a culture of acceptance and support.
Let's come together as a community to learn, grow, and celebrate the diversity that makes our school a vibrant and inclusive place for all.
With gratitude,
Mr. Zagorski

Riverton School News & Updates
Student Attendance Review
Chronic absenteeism in kindergarten can predict lower test scores, poor attendance, and retention in later grades. Chronic absenteeism is defined as students missing 10% of the school year. School attendance is crucial because it lays the foundation for a child's education and future success. Regular attendance ensures that students have consistent access to valuable learning experiences, interactions with teachers and peers, and the opportunity to acquire essential knowledge and skills. Additionally, attending school regularly helps in building a strong support system through social connections, which can positively impact a child's emotional and social development. In essence, school attendance is a fundamental building block for academic achievement and personal growth.
Middle School Dance a Success!
Thank you to Mrs. Walter, Mr. Zaun, Ms. Allen, & Mrs. McGilberry for organizing, "DJing" and chaperoning our middle school dance. Shout out to our middle school parents who helped turn the gym into an "Under the Sea" theme! Our middle school students had a blast, filled with an egg toss, three corners and numerous line dances! A great time was had by all!
8th Grade Podcast
Several 8th graders put together a video podcast where they interviewed numerous students and staff on their favorite song and why. What a tough question to answer!
