Keeping Our Schools Safe: Security Upgrades Coming Soon
At Rogue River School District, student safety remains a priority. New initiatives early this school year included requiring all staff to be First Aid/CPR/AED trained and the addition of a school marshal position. Thanks to the 2023 bond approved by our community, we are excited to share that new security upgrades are coming soon.
What’s Coming:
Elementary Schools: Construction of secure, single-point entry vestibules is nearly complete.
Junior-Senior High School (JSHS): Though not originally included in the bond, careful management of funds has allowed us to add secure vestibules here as well. We expect completion before the next school year.
These vestibules will ensure that all visitors enter through one monitored access point, helping staff better manage who comes into our schools during the day.
Additional Safety Features:
New fencing and access points will restrict open access to school grounds during the day.
After-hours and weekend access will remain available so the community can continue using school facilities outside of school hours.
We understand these changes will affect your usual routine when visiting, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we implement them. In the near future your student’s school will send more detailed information about how to access the building.
Emergency Response Updates:
This coming year we are adopting the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) – a nationwide system supported by law enforcement to better organize our emergency response and communication. This will provide students, staff, and families with clear, consistent information during any safety event.
More information about SRP will be shared as we approach the new school year.
Thank you for supporting student safety and investing in our schools. If you have any questions, please contact your school office.
