AMS Weekly Update
Monday, January 13-Friday, January 17, 2025
Dear Adams Families,
As we approach the end of Semester One, we want to take a moment to share some important updates and celebrate our studentsโ achievements.
Semester One Wrap-Up:
The first semester will officially end on Friday, January 17th. Please note that Thursday, January 16th, and Friday, January 17th, are half days of school. Dismissal will be at 11:00 am, so please make arrangements accordingly.
Winter Sports Updates:
We are excited to announce that wrestling and girls basketball seasons are starting, and tryouts are taking place this week. Encourage your students to get involved, as sports are a great way to build teamwork and school spirit. If you have any questions about eligibility or schedules, please contact our athletic director, Mr. Sanford. SanfordJ@wwcsd.net.
Celebrating Student Success:
Congratulations to all our students for their hard work and perseverance throughout Semester One. We are proud of their efforts and achievements! Looking ahead, students will soon take their NWEA tests. These assessments are an opportunity to show growth and progress. We encourage our students to put forth their best effort as they aim to meet or exceed their individual goals.
Exciting Activity Day Incentive:
To reward students for their hard work, those who meet or exceed 2 or more of their NWEA goals and have no suspensions will be invited to participate in a special Activity Day! Students with excessive tardies will not eligible to attend! This celebration will take place on Friday, February 14th during 5th and 6th hour and will include a variety of student-choice activities, such as:
Watching Movies
Participating in a Valentineโs Day-Themed Dance
Playing Basketball
Pizza
Playing Games in the Library
Making Valentineโs Day Crafts
Student Council will be selling snacks
We hope this incentive motivates students to do their very best on the upcoming assessments!
Thank you for your continued support in making this school year a success. If you have any questions, please donโt hesitate to reach out.
Go Adams!

Raising Resilient Children
Counseling Department
Ms. Lentz and Mrs. Blanchette presented to all 7th and 8th grade classrooms in December and assisted students in completing their Educational Development Plan (EDP) through a program called Xello. Xello is a tool used by many school districts in Michigan that engages students in college and career readiness. Students completed four interest inventories and then were matched with careers based on their results. Once students are matched with potential future careers, Xello provides a wealth of information such as the level of education required, which colleges/universities across the country offer the required major/minor, salary range, level of demand for each career, etc. All students can access Xello at any time through their student Google account. When you have a moment, please ask your 7th or 8th grade student to log-in to Xello at home to show you the careers they were matched with! The photo below shows some of the amazing careers that our 8th grade students have in mind!
The Counseling Department also wanted to mention that the end of first semester is on Friday, January 17th. The first day of second semester is Tuesday, January 21st. Many students will see a change in their elective classes. Students will receive new copies of their new schedules in their 1st hour class on January 21st. Parents and students can also view second semester schedules through their MiStar parent/student accounts. Please note, we are unable to change schedules to place students in classes with their friends, for specific teacher requests, and/or to place students in a specific lunch. All schedule changes must be approved by Administration.
We hope you had a memorable holiday season with your friends and family. It was wonderful to see our students back in the building this week!

Art
As we approach the end of the first semester, our students have been busy wrapping up their projects and finishing up make-up work. Itโs been an exciting time in the art room, where creativity has been in full bloom!
This month, students have been immersing themselves in a variety of fun and imaginative projects. Theyโve put their hands to work on coil pots, exploring the ancient art of ceramics and crafting unique, textured designs. Additionally, some of our artists created stunning dragon's eye sculptures, blending fantasy with fine craftsmanship. These sculptures are truly a testament to their hard work and dedication!
We also wrapped up a challenging but rewarding project: Flextangles. This 3-D paper folding project combines geometry and art, and students enjoyed watching their creations come to life as they folded and assembled colorful, interactive paper designs.
While we will be sad to see our current group of students move on to their second-semester classes, we are also excited to welcome a brand-new group of young artists to our classrooms. We canโt wait to see what new and creative ideas theyโll bring in the coming weeks!
As always, thank you for supporting our budding artists!
PE Class
Workout Wednesday is a dynamic, full-body fitness routine designed to improve strength, endurance, and coordination. It combines a variety of exercises to target multiple muscle groups. The circuit starts with sit-ups to engage the core, followed by push-ups to work the chest, shoulders, and triceps. Next, planks strengthen the entire core and shoulders, while jump ropes boost cardiovascular fitness and improve coordination. The wall sit targets the legs, building endurance in the quads and hamstrings, and line jumps enhance agility and leg strength. Finally, line-to-line jogging focuses on improving cardiovascular health and stamina. To perform the workout, complete each exercise for 30-60 seconds (or a set number of reps) with short rest intervals in between, and repeat the circuit 3-5 times. This routine can be adjusted for any fitness level, offering a challenging and efficient workout that strengthens the body while improving overall fitness.
