Parkside's 7 UP Squad Places 4th at Globals!
We couldn't be more proud of the 5th grade Parkside Destination Imagination team - 7 Up Squad - for not only qualifying, but competing and placing 4th in the Global competition! These students sacrificed their last week at Parkside to travel to Kansas City and compete, but they did get to have a little graduation celebration before leaving!
Curious about Destination Imagination? The Destination Imagination global community is united by a core belief that when students have the freedom to grow and collaborate without boundaries, their confidence explodes and the world opens up to them in new ways. We enable this transformation by providing challenges rooted in STEAM subjects that inspire unique solutions through the use of the creative process. Learn more about DI here.
We form DI teams each year in the fall, but each team needs at least 1 parent coach! Start thinking about whether or not this would be something you and your child would enjoy doing together! There is no requirement to be in Quest for DI. Anyone is welcome!
Leander ISD Summer Camp Info
Did you know that the Leander ISD hosts summer academic and sports camps for students in all grades? My personal kids attend many of them and always have a great time! Check out what is being offered this summer!
Coming Soon: Summer Story Time with Parkside Staff!
Over the course of the summer, we will be releasing weekly videos of our Parkside teachers reading stories to students! We will be posting them to Facebook, so make sure you're following us over there!
Reading is SO important over the Summer months! Check out tips and ideas for reading engagement on the district's Summer Reading 4 All page and use the Summer Reading Choice Board below to keep your kiddos reading!
ACTION NEEDED: Verify Enrollment for 24-25
It’s that time of year when families need to complete enrollment verification for returning students – specifically, students who are attending a Leander ISD campus in the 2023–24 school year and plan to return for the 2024–25 school year. Not only does this information help us staff appropriately, but it's an opportunity to update an contact info and permissions for the year!

If you are unable to get into Home Access Center, please email megan.miller@leanderisd.org.

24-25 Bus Transportation - IMPORTANT!
In an effort to enhance security and safety of our students and staff and to improve the efficiency of our routes, for the 2024–2025 school year, all eligible bus riders – new and returning – will be required to register for transportation if they wish to utilize transportation to and/or from school. In the past, routes for general education students were created based on eligible riders. Going forward routes will be created based on actual riders.
To guarantee transportation on the first day of the 2024–2025 school year, bus registration for general education riders must be received by Friday, June 14. Registrations received after this date will be processed as soon as possible in the order in which they were received.
More information about bus registration and rider eligibility can be found here.
STAAR & TELPAS Score Release Dates & Instructions
At this time we have been told to expect assessment scores to be released to the Family Access Portal on the following dates:
STAAR 3-5 All Subjects: July 24
TELPAS (ESL students only): July 29
You will be receiving an email to the primary email address in Home Access Center NEXT week with your Unique Student Access Code. Make sure to save this as you will need it to log in to the portal to view scores in late July. It is coming early as I will lose access to incoming 6th grade emails once the system rolls over for 24-25! Information on logging in will be found in the email as well.
5th Grade Report Cards
Make sure you print your 5th grader's last report card from Home Access Center (HAC) prior to July. He/She will need it for sports in middle school and you will not be able to access the report card after July!
Parkside School Garden Summer Care 🌼
Thanks to the help of some amazing community members, our Parkside School Garden is starting to take shape. We are looking for volunteers to help support our garden over the summer! If you and your family would like to adopt a week, we would appreciate it! Adoption would include watering (we have a water source and hose!) and weeding as needed. Anything you want to harvest, you are welcome to!
We will be hosting a Summer Garden Party event for of the families that volunteer to keep the garden going! More details to come, but the day will be in August!
Volunteer opportunities are everywhere! Take a moment to complete your volunteer application for 2024-25 if you have not had the chance to do so already:
- New Volunteer to LISD – Begin your registration here
- Current or Returning Volunteers – Review and update your account details here.
Note: Volunteer registrations are active for an entire calendar year (12 months). You will receive a notice one month prior to expiration.
