Important Reminder
Spring Break
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Liberty Park Families,
STEM Night! - Our annual Family STEM Night is right around the corner! Mark your calendars for LP's annual Family STEM Night on Wednesday, March 13th @ 6:00pm! Interactive Children's Museum exhibits, science experiments, Scholastic book fair, food truck and more!
3rd Grade Parents! - Our 3rd grade students have been working hard all year and this week they will get to show off their reading growth as they take the state IREAD3 test during the week of March 11th. If you would like more information regarding this assessment please visit http://www.doe.in.gov/assessment/iread-3. Below is a short video that provides a great overview of the IREAD test. As always please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about this upcoming test. Also, please remember that the most important thing you can do to help your student is remind them that you believe in them and encourage them to do their personal best and show their Patriot Pride!
Have a great weekend and as always, I thank you for your continued support of Liberty Park Elementary!
Your Principal,
Jason Brooks
Car Rider Procedures/Map
Please ensure that students are being picked up and dropped off in the designated car rider drop off area following staff direction. The east end of our front parking lot is designated for bus traffic and students should not be dropped off in that area. If you are visiting the building during arrival and dismissal times, we ask that you please park in the west parking lot to avoid any safety risks and congestion for buses. Patience and procedures help us ensure the safety of all during this process. Thank you for your help in this matter.
Momo Challenge - Internet Safety
Parents - We wanted to make you aware of a disturbing viral “Momo Challenge” that has been circulating nationally on Facebook, YouTube Kids, ROBLOX and WhatsApp.
This “game” starts by challenging the receiver (generally a child or young teen) to perform small tasks, quickly escalating to more serious violent acts including self-harm and suicide. The challenge also threatens to kidnap and/or murder children and their families if the participant doesn’t comply with the tasks. Please note that in response to this we have blocked the search terms “momo” and “momo challenge” on school devices.
We encourage parents to continue to have regular conversations with children about online safety and monitor what's happening on their accounts. Talk about the content they access, the importance of not accepting any communications or invitations from people they do not know, and not sharing personal information.
See flyer below for more information about this topic.

Attendance Update
Students who attend school regularly have been shown to achieve at higher levels than students who do not have regular attendance. Every school day counts in a child's academic life... a missed school day is a lost opportunity for students to learn. The effects of lost school days build up one absence at a time. Leaving early or coming in late, is a loss of instructional time that cannot be made up.
During the month of February our attendance was 96.5%. Thank you for all that you do to ensure that students are healthy and attend school regularly.
