Don’t forget, your child received a take-home STEM kit with some amazing science experiments. We would love for you to participate in this school-wide STEM project with your child. These projects were generously sponsored by the Rockingham Educational Foundation, Inc. (REFI) Please have your child return their completed journal to MVES by March 24, 2025, so they can be entered into a participation drawing for a chance to win a fun prize!

PRE-K

Children who will be four (4) years old on or before September 30, 2025

The following information is required:

-Birth Certificate

-Proof of Residency

-Proof of Income for everyone working in the household

Once all information is provided, you will receive a scheduled screening appointment for a later date to see if your child qualifies for our program.

KINDERGARTEN

Children who will be five (5) years old on or before September 30, 2025

We encourage families to complete the registration online using the link that will be provided on our website or you may use the link below (Be sure to select 2025-26 school year).

March Week 2 - It’s a Food Chain Marble Maze!

Observation: Marble mazes are fun to use! Food chains have a lot of pieces, just like a marble maze! (Yes, I know it’s a stretch!)

Question: Can we make a marble maze to show the links in a food chain?

Materials:

• Shoe Box

• Popsicle sticks or rolled, taped pieces of paper

• Scissors

• Glue

• Tape

• Pictures, drawings, or words labeling parts of

a food chain.

Activity:

• Create a “start” point in one corner of the box. Glue down or draw a picture of the sun at the “start” place.

• Using the pictures or drawings of the food chain, and using the popsicle sticks or rolled paper as walls, create a maze through which the marble must move in order to get to the apex (ultimate) predator in the food chain.

• If you have more than one student, have each child choose a food chain from a different ecosystem and then try out each other’s marble mazes.

Results:

• Take a picture of your food chain marble maze and submit it to your teacher on SeeSaw!

Reflection:

• Think about what you ate today! In what parts of the food chain are your snacks and meals?

The parent portal is an online portal accessible anywhere on the web that parents can log in to and see all of their children in one place, their grades, assignments, scores, attendance, schedules, and teacher comments for each school your children attend.

Parents need to contact the school to get access information to create an account in PowerSchool.
