It's hard to believe how quickly this semester is flying by! Before we know it, prom will be here, AP and IB exams will be happening, and our seniors will be crossing the stage at Red Rocks! It's been a busy month for our IB diploma candidates. Our seniors have been putting the finishing touches on their IAs and ToK essays, completing their CAS projects, and helping to support our juniors with their EE research questions and Collaborative Sciences Project. Our IB diploma juniors have begun their ToK Exhibition, have finalized their EE research questions, and are preparing to take the SAT in a few weeks. Regardless of the grade level, or the assignments and projects taking place, I believe all students are busy counting down to spring break! Hang in there, keep up the good work, and I hope you all have a wonderful month and a restful and relaxing spring break!

April 25-May 17 - AP/IB Exams (all exams will be administered at DRHS; please see the exam calendar for details on times/locations)

May 16 - DRHS Graduation: Red Rocks @ 7:00pm

May 17 - No school

May 20 - IB Finals Study Night: DRHS Library 6:00-8:00pm - All Pre-IB/IB students are invited!

IB exams begin on April 25 and go through May 17; the AP/IB Exam Calendar is linked here. Please review the schedule carefully. There will be a meeting for all students sitting for IB exams on Wednesday, April 10 during Seminar in the DRHS library. This meeting is mandatory for any student taking an IB exam; important information will be covered regarding exam information and expectations, course uploads, absences during exams, and requesting IB exam scores. Finally, if your son/daughter is testing this spring, please make sure you have paid the IB testing fees.

If you haven't signed your son or daughter up yet for Italy 2025, what's stopping you?? EF is offering one final $200 discount for travelers if you sign up by March 15! Join us as we explore Venice, Florence, and Rome over Spring Break! Any Dakota Ridge student in grades 9-12 is welcome to join us (and yes, that includes our incoming 9th graders!). All Class of 2024 full IB Diploma candidates are encouraged to apply for the 2024 IBARMS Scholarship. The Rocky Mountain Association of IB World Schools is excited to announce that they will award twenty-five, $1,000 scholarships to full IB Diploma Programme Candidates. In collaboration with Lakewood High School, plan to join us for the IB Visual Arts Exhibition at the Lakewood Cultural Arts Center on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 @ 5:30pm! This event promises to be a wonderful night of showcasing the incredible talent of students from both high schools and is a true celebration of the artists' passion and hard work! If you have never attended this event before, please plan to join us! You will be blown away by our talented IB visual arts students!

On Tuesday, February 27, students in all of the IB science classes came together to participate in the Collaborative Sciences Project. The IB Collaborative Sciences Project gives students the opportunity to work together in an interdisciplinary team. They work towards a common goal related to a real-world issue, pursued through the lens of the scientific method. This year's CSP had students exploring the theme of water. The CSP explores a specific issue, giving students the opportunity to recognize some of the interrelated systems, mechanisms and processes connected to the issue they are investigating. These interconnected factors may include the environmental, social, and ethical implications of science and technology. Ultimately, the CSP is a focused opportunity for students to develop a range of IB learner profile traits. (www.IBO.org)

A huge thank you to Mrs. Anderson, Mr. Gysin, Mr. Long, and Mrs. Nyman for working so hard to put together a fantastic day for our IB science students!

If you have not paid your IB yearly dues yet, please be sure to do that ASAP! The yearly dues cover a variety of things for our IB students, including, the IB finals lunches and dinners, the IB sweatshirts given to students during the IB Pinning Ceremony, the IB graduation medallions, the cost for seniors to attend the IB Senior Celebration dinner, and SO many other things! Dues are $50 this year and can be paid through check (made out to DRHS IB) and given to Holly Davis or through Zelle (use the DRHS IB Parent Group email address): dribpg@gmail.com. Questions regarding dues, contact the DRHS IB Parent Group or Holly Davis.

Senior families please note: In order for the IB Parent Group to cover the cost of your IB senior diploma candidate for the IB Senior Celebration, all IB dues must be paid in full.

The IB Parent Group is looking for volunteers! We are looking for parents who would be interested in learning more about the group and then stepping into roles for next year's IB Parent Group. Plan to attend the next meeting on Wednesday, March 27 @ 6:30pm in the DRHS library to learn more. The time commitment is minimal, but the support for our IB community is invaluable! Please join us in March to learn more about how to get involved with this amazing group!
