Friends of Frontier V.I.P. Breakfast
Join us at the exclusive Friends of Frontier V.I.P. Breakfast, a special kick-off event for the new Friends of Frontier student success program supporting Frontier Schools. Hosted by the New Frontier Educational Foundation during the 5th Annual KC STEM FEST on March 1st at Union Station, this breakfast precedes the KC STEM FEST featuring innovative projects by over 350 students. As the largest charter school in Kansas City, Frontier has graduated over 1,600 students since 2007, and 100% of our students get accepted into college each year -- most of whom come back to start their careers.
Highlights:
Breakfast: 9:00 a.m. - 9:45 a.m.
Kick-Off Program: 9:45 a.m. - 10:40 a.m.
Exclusive V.I.P. Tour: 10:40 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Doors open to public for KC STEM FEST: 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Breakfast in the Chamber Board Room will be followed by a brief program featuring opening remarks by Greg Rieke, Founder of Frontier Schools and President of the New Frontier Educational Foundation, and Ugur Demircan, superintendent of Frontier Schools before introducing community leaders who will speak on each of the five definitions of "Friends" (Financial Contributors, Volunteers/Mentors, Corporate Partnerships, Educational/Non-Profit Alliances, Advisory Board/Alumni Supporters).
Other notable speakers scheduled to participate: KC Mayor Quinton Lucas; Lia McIntosh, Director, KC Rising; George Karlaftis, KC Chiefs Defensive End; representatives from Henderson Engineering and Country Club Bank; Nabil Abas, Frontier alumnus; and Poet Sanders who leads our Middle School Mentoring Program.

VEX IQ Robotics Teams Update
Congratulations to the accomplished teams! In particular, 243A takes 1st Place Overall, the Excellence Award, Robot Skills Champion Award, and a Build Award Certificate. 243B deserves special recognition for securing the Judges Award and making an impressive jump from 14th to 3rd place overall, also clinching 2nd in the Skills Challenge. Equally commendable, 243C claims 2nd Place Overall and the Teamwork Champion Award, while 243D makes strides, receiving the Design Award Certificate and improving from 17th to 14th Place Overall, with a notable 10th position in the Skills Challenge.
Both 243A and 243C have earned invitations to the State Championship. Well done to all!
Frontier Schools Excel with State Finalists at Missouri HOSA
The Missouri HOSA 2024 State Leadership Conference is set for March 25-26, 2024, in Rolla, Missouri. Recognizing the achievements, Frontier School of Innovation has 9 State Finalists, and Frontier STEM High School shines with 17 Finalists and 2 Chapter Awards. Applause to these outstanding students! Best of luck at the conference!
Show Me KC Schools Hosts a Special Tour of FSI Elementary for Education Leaders
On January 25th, Show Me KC Schools treated staff and board members from School Smart KC, 20/20 Leadership, Startland Education, and KC Health Collaborative to a tour of FSI Elementary.
Principal Lauren O'Connor led the tour, showcasing key spaces, engaged students, and providing insights into the curriculum and teaching approach.
Million Father March
On January 4th, FSI-Elem and FSI-Middle hosted their annual Million Father March. Male caregivers including fathers, grandfathers, uncles and brothers were invited to attend and participate in welcoming back students to help kick off the new semester!
Thank you to all the dads, local community members and Frontier staff for braving the cold weather to welcome back students and for showing your warm support!
Henderson Engineers Visits FSE
On January 26th, Henderson Engineers engaged with students at FSE. The students were tasked with a challenge to construct a birdhouse within a time constraint. The Henderson representatives shared insights into their career beginnings and intentionally provided teams with incorrect pieces, prompting collaboration as they sought the correct components from other teams.
After School Clubs
There are many opportunities for students to get involved in after school clubs, such as: Advanced Research Club, Gateway Readers' Club, Girls on the Run Club, Health Occupations Students of America Club, Writer's Workshop Club, Math Club, Fishing Club, Cooking Club, I.T. Club, Kindness Club, Art & Craft Club, Video Game Design Club, Chess Club, Fitness Club, Environmental Club, etc.

Home Visits
Teachers and school staff have visited 436 students in 371 homes since the start of the 2023-24 school year. Home visits are paramount in bridging cultural gaps that might exist. These visits also provide opportunities for staff to understand their students better by visiting them in their home environments.

Inclement Weather Procedure
During inclement weather, Frontier Schools will implement a school closing policy to ensure the safety of our students.
Students may be released early or classes may be canceled entirely due to inclement weather. Please be familiar with the following information sources in the event of school cancellations, early releases or late starts.
Channels of Communication:
1. School Website:
Please check your school's website for information regarding school closings and other cancellations within minutes of a decision.
2. School Messenger:
Phone and optional voice/text messages are sent to school families when classes are cancelled, delayed or students are released early.
3. Social Media:
We will post information on the Frontier Schools District Facebook and Twitter pages.
4. Radio & TV:
Local Stations share announcements on-air and on their websites.
