Parking and Drop-Offs
We have noticed families using the Disabled parking stalls and Staff parking stalls to stop and drop their kids in the morning. A reminder that student drop-offs should be:
- On Main Blvd in front of the school. This is the best place for the drop-offs.
- Or
- In our parking lot by either stopping in Visitor parking or looping to the back.
Thank you for your support with this.
Read our Guide to Reporting Student Achievement and School Education Plan
The Guide to Reporting Student Achievement (GRSA) and School Education Plan (SEP) for the 2024-25 school year are available now! The GRSA explains how we assess student achievement, how we determine grades and more. The SEP details our school goals for the year—with key strategies and measures in achieving these outcomes. You can access our GRSA and SEP through the two corresponding home page tiles at https://www.cloverbar.ca/.
Knightly News
Not only do we have a Knightly Newsletter that we send out, but we also have one by the office to share information with our students. They can check it out as they are looking at our Super Knights Tree! Thanks to Mr. Haman and Mrs. MacIsaac who put this together! It is a great way for our students to see all of the great things they are doing around their school!
School Fees are Active
The school fees for the 2024-25 school year for Clover Bar are now posted and active.
Wondering when and how to pay for school fees? School fee information for the 2024-25 school year will be posted on the PowerSchool Parent Portal in late September. All fees are due within 30 days of being posted. NOTE: Additional fees may be added throughout the year—for example, at the beginning of each semester, as your child takes part in various activities, or they may be adjusted by changes in selected optional courses in junior and senior high school. If you’re unable to pay your school fees, you can apply to have certain fees waived. The application deadline is Dec. 16, 2024.
For more information, visit the https://www.cloverbar.ca/about/fees on the school website. Alternatively, contact Mrs. Lynette McElheran, Business Secretary at Clover Bar Junior High at 780-467-2295 or lynette.mcelheran@eips.ca.
Self-Regulation
Mr. Parmiter is our Mental Health Lead teacher. He works with Mrs. Sorel, our Guidance Counselor, our Admin team, as well our as our entire staff to provide resources, and strategies to support student regulation. He is also sharing resources and insight with families so that we can work together to support our best learning environment for students and staff.
Self-regulation is the ability to respond and regulate oneself to the ongoing demands of life through a wide range of emotions. Examples of self-regulations strategies are breathing techniques or using the reset space in the library to regulate or self-talk, so you help yourself understand that everything will be alright. There has been lots of research shown to help support this term. The use of regulation strategies has been shown to have many positive benefits such as academic achievement, positive social relationships, attention, and self-efficacy. If your child would like some additional information, we have many resources, such as:
- Our hallway display pictured below.
- Information in our library Re-Set space.
- Students can also speak with any adult in the building, including Mrs. Sorel, Mrs. Yeo and Mr. Shudra, or Mr. Parmiter. The key is to find someone they connect with.

Did you know?
Research shows sustained, collaborative and job-embedded professional learning significantly enhances teacher efficacy and student achievement. Simply put, the more times teachers get to learn from one another during the year, the better it is for student success. Professional learning doesn’t mean a day off for staff—they improve upon their knowledge using time dedicated for collaboration, growth and relationship-building. This ensures students continue to receive high-quality education throughout the school year.
Inclement Weather
With the winter season almost here, we have a few reminders for families:
- Ensure students have clothing appropriate for expected weather conditions.
- If weather conditions are bad enough to impact student transportation, Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) advises families directly, as well as posting on social media and eips.ca as early as possible.
- Decisions regarding bus cancellations are guided by an EIPS administrative procedure that states, “school bus service may be suspended…when there is a forecast or current temperature of -40 C, including wind chill factor, in one or more regions.”
- Other reasons for suspending or delaying school bus services include adverse weather and poor road conditions.
- When school bus services are suspended, schools remain open to students.
For more information, contact EIPS Student Transportation at 780-417-8151.
