The RAMS Report #5
The Week of September 30th, 2024
Principal's Message
Good morning AD Rundle Families,
I hope you all have had a restful weekend soaking up the beginnings of fall. The crisp air, cooler days, and the crunch of leaves certainly has me looking forward to the change in the season.
As I send you this message on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the Canadian day of memorial to recognize the atrocities and multi-generational effects of the Canadian Indian residential school system. I encourage you to chat with your student about the learning they have done around this topic. On Thursday our school held an assembly, lead by Indigenous Students with generations of families there to witness, our recognition and truth telling about this part of Canadian History. I am so proud of the work that our students and staff at ADR are doing!
As always if you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out.
Warmly,
Sarah

Parking and Student Drop Off
To facilitate the orderly and SAFE pick-up/drop-off of students at our school, please avoid parking your vehicle in the “Bus Only” area (marked in orange) next to our gymnasium or in the area marked in yellow as busses need the space to make the turn within the confines of the parking lot.
Please follow the pick-up/drop-off route is shown with the light blue arrows and be mindful of the crosswalk. As our school has grown, so has the traffic.
For families whose students require additional supports in the morning for drop off, we have three stalls marked as "RESERVED". Please avoid parking in these areas if your student does not require the extra supports in the morning or after school.
Thank you for your understanding!
Weekly Lunch Menu
We are very lucky to be supported by Breakfast Clubs of Canada and by The Feeding Futures program here in Chilliwack. This means that our students have access to a fulsome breakfast, hearty lunch, and a variety of nutritious snacks at breaks...for FREE every day for ALL students. This is a barrier free program. All students are welcome and encouraged to access the programs and do not need to register or sign up.
Breakfast begins in the multipurpose room at 8:15 am, snacks are available at break outside the multipurpose room, and lunch will be collected through the classroom teacher with snacks also available as students head out just outside of the multipurpose room.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out! Menus will be posted the week before in the "RAMS Report" so you can be aware of ingredient lists for allergens or any dietary concerns.
NEW INFORMATION
Family Support
I have attached a copy of the Free Food Programs in Chilliwack document from Chilliwack Healthier Communities. This is a great resource for families facing food insecurities or in need of additional resources.
Here is a link to the webpage https://www.chilliwackhealthiercommunity.ca/food This page has a link to the food asset map and will be updated throughout the year with any changes to the resources available within the community.
Fair Notice and School Code of Conduct
District Cell Phone Use Policy for Students
At all Middle Schools in Chilliwack student cell phones are to be put away during the school day. They can be brought out at a teachers discretion for its use as a learning tool, other than during those teacher sanctioned times it is required to not be on a students person and stored securely.
It is fundamentally important for students during this developmental time to have time to socialise and connect with peers with limited technological distractions. If you need to communicate with your student during the school day or if your student needs to speak with you, they are free to call from the office and families can call and leave a message for their student.
At AD Rundle students will place their phones inside of their lockers and not on their pockets (or person). Phones need to be placed in lockers when the warning bell rings and can be used after the dismissal bell at the end of the day. Students in portables will keep phones in their backpacks in the cloak room. If students struggle with placing phones away in lockers or in bags a further conversation with teachers and administration will be required which may result in a student not being able to bring a phone to school for a specified period of time. If you have questions about this policy please feel free to reach out to administration.
AD Rundle does not assume responsibility for lost or damaged phones. Accident do happen, so if you are concerned with your student's phone being damaged please reconsider sending it to school with your student.
District and AD Rundle Attendance Policy
Student attendance is critical to the success of students at school. We understand that circumstances can sometimes become a barrier for students to attend regularly. If your family is experiencing barriers in getting your student/s to school, please reach out to your students classroom teacher, counselor, or our administration team to see how we can provide supports to your family.
If we reach out to check in, please know that it comes from a place of support and care. We want to make sure that we are doing all that we can to ensure our community members are supported!
Chilliwack School District Accessibility Plan
Chilliwack School District is a rapidly growing community of learners that values and celebrates every student and staff member for who they are through the lens of super-diversity. In simple terms, super-diversity acknowledges that there are multiple ways of being in a school community that coexist simultaneously. It's more than just acknowledging diversity - it's recognizing that it is a multidimensional experience (such as one can be gifted, come from a different cultural context, and be a member of the 2SLGBTQI+ community) and that we all share the responsibility to create a safe and caring school community where everyone can see themselves as champions for the human spirit and human rights.
This website holds resources and information to assist with the work that we do and to celebrate the super-diversity of our community.
