MASC Cruise Lines: September Letter
September 2024
Welcome To The Monthly MASC Newsletter!
A Message From Your State President
Presidents Message
Hello MASC!
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to a fantastic year ahead! For those of you who have yet to meet me, my name is Jack Rubin, I am from Duxbury High School, and I am serving as your 48th Massachusetts Association of Student Councils State President.
I want to welcome you all back and fill you in on some things to keep in mind for the coming year. Over the late spring and summer, the MASC board has worked incredibly hard to brainstorm, draft, and finalize a theme that we believe will carry this organization to great success! Our theme âMASC Cruise Linesâ takes on a cruise-themed adventure for all of our destinations this year!
Furthermore, I would like to announce a few new initiatives that we are taking on! Through much discussion, the board and I have agreed to prioritize and emphasize communication and outreach his year. You may notice a new and updated format for the newsletter, and you will be sure to see an improved effort to engage you all with our Instagrams, social media, and updated and improved website! As promised, we have some new and exciting opportunities to get involved in MASC! With the institution of a new MASC Special Olympics Dance as well as our new Project MASC initiative, we hope to increase participation and engage our strong community to the fullest extent.
Finally, I am excited to introduce a new thematic project that the board and I are starting! We have all decided that creating monthly thematic subthreads would help to further our investment in this year's theme, and also provide programming and messaging on a monthly basis. We will have 8 monthly cruise-related symbols which will serve as a guide and thread to represent the messaging of each month this year. This month's symbol is the sail! As we embark on a new school year with new adventures, we chose the sail to represent how we are starting off our journey for the year. It represents a bittersweet coming back to school, and an exciting encouragement to get out and try new things!
I am looking forward to the year ahead and cannot wait to show what we have in store! I encourage each and every one of you to make the most of this year and involve yourselves in as many ways as possible. We have planned an awesome year ahead, so let's âCRUISE THE SEAS OF LEADERSHIP!â. Once again, welcome and feel free to reach out to me directly with any questions or ideas via our Instagram @MASCpresident!
All the best,
Jack Rubin
MASC President
Our Symbol of the Month: Sail
Like a cruise ship, many pieces need to come together at once to keep student council moving! So, it is only fitting that the first part of the cruise MASC highlights is a sail. As we begin the new year, many of us enter a chance to show our leadership within our schools, and outside them as well. It's important to remember that leaders are role models, and often looked at for help when it is needed.
For this year, let yourself be just like a sail, and steer your leaders into the right direction. Propel the ship forward, adjust to the windy conditions, and set sail to begin a great year!
