Welcome Back Brahmas!
Dear Brahma Family,
I hope this message finds everyone well and excited for the start of a new school year. I also hope that you all had a wonderful summer.
Over the summer, many of our staff members were on campus supporting or teaching summer school, and/or ensuring that every student and their families had the opportunity to meet one-on-one with their Grade Level Coordinator and complete mandatory annual paperwork. I want to extend my gratitude to our staff who worked during some or all of the summer break.
We are thrilled that we will be starting the year in the newly modernized 400 building and that we will no longer have classes in the portables. We’re also excited about the upcoming removal of the portables and the restoration of our upper fields. For the first time in five years, there will be no construction on campus this year!
This year, our theme is “You Belong Here.” A simple, but powerful statement. For our students, this means that we will foster an environment where you can fully participate throughout the school as your authentic selves, explore your interests, and reach your full potential. For staff it means not only embracing our own authenticity, but also the role each of us plays in ensuring that everyone feels a sense of belonging at DBHS. And for our community, it means that Diamond Bar High School is a place of inclusion, where every voice matters. As we navigate the upcoming year, my hope is that our theme “You Belong Here” will guide our interactions and strengthen our school community.
We will start the school year as we do every year, with a Minimum Day that includes a Pep Rally on the first day of school and Rodeo Roundup during the first week. Rodeo Roundup is a community event to which all of our families are invited. It will take place this Thursday, August 15 beginning at the end of the school day (see flyer below). While admission to Rodeo Roundup is free, I encourage everyone to purchase a $10 wristband, which includes dinner (Mexican food or Raising Cane’s) and access to various fun and exciting games. The event will also include performances by our pep team and performing arts groups.
Lastly, please note that the first Wednesday of the school year, August 14, is NOT a late-start day. This Wednesday is a regular school day.
I hope everyone has a great first week of school!
Sincerely,
David Hong
Principal
