Beginning next school year, Anoka-Hennepin will transition from Frontline Absence Management to Red Rover Absence Management as the staff and substitute absence management system.

In July and August, login invites will be sent to those returning for the 2024-25 school year. Once you receive your login invite, please follow the instructions for creating your login credentials and review the basic training video.

Anoka-Hennepin and the University of St. Thomas have a partnership that provides hands-on experience to support success in future teaching careers.

The Grow Your Own and Work and Learn programs aim to recruit, prepare, retain, and support highly qualified paraprofessionals and Tier 1 and Tier 2 teachers, staff and community members to become Tier 3 licensed special education teachers. The program offers an affordable, accessible and accelerated program to earn an Academic and Behavior Strategist (ABS) License and Master’s Degree in 2.5 years.

🎓 Several Anoka-Hennepin employees participating in the Grow Your Own program recently graduated from the University of St. Thomas with their master’s degrees and teaching licensure in special education through the Work and Learn program.

The Anoka-Hennepin Educational Foundation (AHEF) annual "Putt-ing" Kids First Golf Tournament is set for Saturday, Sept. 7 at Green Haven Golf Course in Anoka. With the spring sports and activities season wrapping up, here’s a look at who’s heading to state, and how they fared when they performed and played. Also included is information about post-season awards gathered by student-athletes and coaches.

🏐 Boys Volleyball

The final Minnesota Boys High School Volleyball Association State Tournament was held June 12-13 at Shakopee High School. In 2024-25, boys high school volleyball will become a sanctioned Minnesota State High School League-sponsored activity.

The Andover High School boys' volleyball team represented Anoka-Hennepin in this year’s boys' volleyball state tournament. The Huskies were the first-ever boys volleyball state tournament champion in 2019.

Andover placed third in the state in this year’s tournament, defeating Spring Lake Park in three sets (25-23, 25-14, 25-22) on June 13. The Huskies were the No. 4 seed in the state tournament and opened play with a three-set victory over Washburn High School (25-17, 25-19, 26-24).

Andover defeated Maple Grove in a five-set thriller to earn a spot in the semifinals before falling in four sets (28-30, 25-21, 18-25, 22-25) to eventual state champion Shakopee High School.

The Huskies finished the season with a record of 20-6-1.

The Minnesota State High School League Class AAA Girls Golf State Tournament was held June 11-12 at Bunker Hils Golf Club.

Andover High School sophomore Anneka Voerding qualified for this year’s state tournament after a medalist performance at the Section 7 championship. Voerding placed 43rd out of 87 players at the state championship with a two-round score of 166 (82-84).

The Minnesota State High School League Class AAA Boys Golf State Tournament was held June 11-12 at Bunker Hils Golf Club.

Anoka High School had two section medalists qualify for this year’s state tournament. Senior Tyler Grandrud placed 30th out of 88 players, shooting a two-round score of 153 (74-79) and junior Jack Schmitz placed 58th firing a 36-hole score of 160 (77-83).

Clay Target

The Minnesota State High School League Clay Target State Tournament was held Friday, June 21 at the Minneapolis Gun Club.

Blaine High School participated in the team competition, which included two sessions of 50 targets each. BHS placed 29th overall with a team score of 457.

📝📬 Fourth-grade students from Hamilton Elementary School met their pen pals for the first time at an end of year field trip to the Coon Rapids Senior Center. The Pen Pal Project partnership allows students to gain hands-on experience in writing. 📺 View the video from CTN Studios.

The Anoka-Hennepin School District will participate in the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) once again this summer. Meals will be provided to all children 18 and under at no cost.

🥕 The details: Meals will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis, at 16 sites across the district. The program will start Thursday, June 13 at most sites. Meal availability and serving times vary from site to site and are subject to change. Review a list of sites and meal times for more information.

Meals will be served inside school buildings. Parents accompanying their children may purchase a meal. Adult breakfast is $3.00 and lunch is $5.25. Exact change is required, and no checks will be taken.

🍎 More about the program: The SFSP was created by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to ensure that children could continue to receive nutritious meals during summer break, when they may not have access to school breakfast or lunch.

The Anoka-Hennepin School District will host a summer hiring event from 1-5 p.m. on Thursday, July 25 at the Educational Service Center (ESC), located at 2727 N Ferry St. in Anoka. The hiring event will take place in the Erling Johnson rooms. Please enter Door 7 at the ESC.

Technology plays an important role in preparing students for life, and Chromebooks are utilized as a daily learning tool in Anoka-Hennepin middle and high school classrooms. Anoka-Hennepin students in grades 6-12 are assigned a Chromebook from the school district to ensure access to technology systems that support classroom learning.

Over 28,000 Chromebooks are distributed to students the first week of school. As careful as students and schools are, accidents do happen each year - and thousands of Chromebooks are returned at the end of the school year with damages.

Plan ahead: Families have the option to enroll in the Device Protection Plan beginning July 1. The Technology Protection Plan is optional; it is not required, however, by electing not to participate in the Protection Plan, families may be required to reimburse the school district for the replacement or repair of damaged Chromebooks assigned to their student/s. Damaged or broken screens may cost between $50 to $150 depending on parts needed; or the replacement cost for the entire device could be up to $410.

Families can opt-in to the Device Protection Plan by logging into A-HConnect, and selecting "My Student Information," and "Fees." Parents must select or decline coverage under the Device Protection Plan. View detailed information at ahschools.us/techprotect.
