The LSHS Band Program
- The Minnesota State Mankato High School Honor Band was held on Friday, January 26. Jane Stiers, Jon Ariza-Montesinos, Alex Maatz and Bode Benson rehearsed and performed under the direction of MSU's band directors along with high school musicians from around the state.
- On Saturday, January 27 musicians from LSHS earned 105 superior medals for their performances. Students performed music they had selected and rehearsed from many different genres. The performances were judged by high school and collegiate music educators and professional gigging musicians. The Jazz Ensemble earned a perfect score and the special distinction as Best in State!
- All three Lakeville Color Guard units earned the top score in their classes at Minnesota's premier color guard competition held at Osseo High School on Saturday, January 27. Minnesota's Northstar Color Guard Circuit involves performing groups from cadets in grades 1-5, scholastic groups through middle and high school and independent open groups open to performers older than high school age. The Lakeville Guards will compete again on February 17 at Irondale High School. Come and see all of the guard units on March 2, when Lakeville South hosts the competition!
- Robert Gariepy and Nathy Tiko rehearsed with musicians from around the state in the University of Minnesota's High School Honor Band. The two students auditioned months ago and were selected to rehearse for the weekend on the U of M campus and perform in a grand concert on Sunday, January 28. The concert's program was comprised of music by Minnesota composers all of which were in attendance to work with the students!
