District Names New Chief Academic Officer
The Crowley ISD Board of Trustees named Anna Roe the district’s new Chief Academic Officer.
Roe began her teaching career in 2004 as a teacher at Jackie Carden Elementary in Crowley ISD before heading to Granbury ISD where she served as a teacher, assistant principal and principal.
She returned to Crowley ISD in 2019 to serve as principal of Deer Creek Elementary. She is currently an executive director of school leadership in CISD and has worked as the director of Teaching and Learning for Elementary in the district.
Roe will replace Nicholas Keith, who was promoted to an executive director position at the Texas Education Agency.
Board Approves New CHS Men's Basketball Coach
For the last nine years, James has led the O.D. Wyatt Chaparrals Men's program. In his tenure, his teams have made the playoffs every year. Prior to that, he served as the varsity assistant coach and Head JV coach under Rodney McFadden at Wyatt for five years.
James played four years at The University of Texas-Arlington from 2002 to 2006 under Eddie McCarter.
Trustees Hear Plans for Paraprofessional Pay Raise
Crowley ISD is planning to make a recommendation to the Board to raise the minimum hourly rate for paraprofessional and auxiliary employees to $15 an hour.
The current paraprofessional hourly rates range between $12.19 and $33 per hour, with 273 employees earning less than $15 an hour.
The district is also considering increasing all other hourly workers' pay by 13% as part of an equity adjustment.
If the district implements both scenarios, it would cost almost $1.9 million.
Superintendent Dr. Michael McFarland said a final recommendation regarding compensation increases would also look at teachers and administrators.
CISD Spotlights Fine Arts Programs
The North Crowley High School Men's Show Choir performed at the May 11 school board meeting in conjunction with the Fine Arts report.
