OES Family Update

Families,

It is hard to believe that it is already May and we have just 3 weeks of school remaining. I am incredibly proud of our students and staff for the work they have done this year to make this year a success. We are in the midst of end of the year testing with NWEA MAP testing beginning for all students in grades K-6 grade this week. I look forward to sharing our grade level/school wide growth once testing is completed.

If you haven't already, I highly encourage you to make arrangements to attend our Student Showcase on the last day of school May 23rd. If you have already completed the Volunteer Background check to attend a field trip, assist with Field Day/Book Fair, or be a classroom volunteer, you have also fulfilled this requirement. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all.

I also wanted to take this opportunity to publicly thank our 3 retirees at OES who combined have dedicated over 60 years of their careers to the students of OCUSD #220. I will miss their contributions to our students and school community and am privileged to have gotten to witness the work they have done on a daily basis. Their retirement will leave a large void in our building, but I am so happy for them as they approach this next phase of life. Please join me in celebrating the following retirees at OES and be sure to reach out to them to thank them if they have positively impacted you or your family:

Please submit any homeroom consideration requests for the upcoming school year. It is highly unlikely we will be able to honor all requests, especially FOR a specific teacher. We will make every effort to honor requests as it relates to prior poor experiences or peer conflicts to ensure the best experience for all. Requests to be with a specific peer will not be considered. Please keep in mind we have to ensure an adequate balance and ensure we are adhering to requirements outlined in Student IEPs/504s that may limit some requests. No considerations will be considered after May 23rd.
