Learning for All, Whatever it Takes
A Message from the Principal
Dear Parents,
This school year has flown by! I want you each to know how grateful I am for your support of Tuscarora. Without a top-notch staff and supportive parents, my job would be extremely difficult. I am blessed to have you!
The week of May 6-10th is Teacher Appreciation Week! Please for free to reach out and thank any of our staff members if you desire. They are an awesome group! Without them, we would not be the BEST primary school in BCS.
First Grade students (May 23rd) will be going to Maryland Theater in Hagerstown, MD to see the performance of Charlotte's Web Thursday, May 23, 2024.
Finally, the last day of school for our students is May 24th, students will be dismissed 2 hours early on this day.
Have a wonderful summer! I look forward to seeing each of you in August.
Sincerely,
Dr. Tyler Long, Principal

Important Note from the Nurse
Happy May!! It’s hard to believe that the school year is quickly coming to an end. As a friendly reminder, all medications must be picked up by an adult no later than 1 PM, Friday May 24th. All medications left after that point will be disposed of. Students are not allowed to transport medications home with them.
Please remember that all scheduled / as needed medications (either prescription or over the counter) must have updated orders every school year dated on or after July 1st. A copy of the Administration of Medication form can be found at https://www.berkeleycountyschools.org/domain/5308.
Likewise, all dietary orders will need to be updated for the upcoming school year (either renewed or cancelled in writing by the healthcare provider). The forms will be available by the Office of Child Nutrition this summer and can be completed on or after July 1st. You can get the forms by visiting https://www.berkeleycountyschools.org/domain/5295 and selecting “Medical Plan of Care for School Food Service” under the Special Medical Diets section.
If you have any questions, please reach out to me. I hope everyone has a safe and healthy Spring!
Nurse Lynne
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Getting Prepared for the 2024-2025 School Year
For our returning students, we hope you have a fantastic and fun summer. The first day of school for the 24-25 school year will be on August 19th. Please watch for information to come out about our Back to School night sometime the week before school begins. Berkeley County Schools will list this information on their website. Just before the start of the school year, BCS will also open the 24-25 Emergency Card via Jot Form. We encourage every family to do this prior to the first day of school. This card needs to be updated at the start of every school year so that we have accurate contact information as well as updated emergency contacts and needs to be electronically signed for your child to have permission to use technology in school.

Student Absences
Please remember that when your student is absent you need to send a note explaining the absence within 2 school days. If your child has a doctor's appointment or is sick and you take them to the doctor, always ask for a doctor's note to excuse the absence.
Berkeley County Schools has established an on-line form for parents/guardians to use when a student is absent. Please use the attached link to access the form.
