Gary Elementary School

In each of the schools in District 33 the principals work with their Building Leadership Team to set goals for the year in Reading, Math, and Culture. Each goal has an action plan that goes with it. Our goals that we are working towards are shown below.

In our literacy action plan we are focused on building oracy. Some of the strategies we are using are cooperative learning, providing sentence stems, and using accountable talk. The students shown here are coaching one another in math using a cooperative learning stragegy.

Staff and students are encouraged to participate in school spirit days each week on Wear it Wednesdays and during Spirit Weeks.

Our Gary School students and staff were very busy in January. We took our benchmark testing in Fastbridge and MAP and also began ACCESS testing with our students who are aquiring English. We will spend February analyzing data from the benchmark testing to adjust instruction at three levels: classroom, group, and individualized instruction for our students who are both exceding expectations and not yet making grade level expectations.
