Senior Updates
Senior Checkout - Deadline May 23, 2024
End of the Year Senior Survey Communication
Subject: End of the Year Senior Survey - Class of 2024
Seniors, we are getting close to the end of high school! The end of the year Senior Survey needs to be completed in order to receive your cap and gown, graduation tickets, and high school diploma.
All items below are included in the Senior Survey and must be completed in order to finish the senior checkout process. There are four parts to the checkout:
1) Finance Clearance - Any outstanding debts must be paid
2) Library Clearance - All fines must be paid and items must be returned: Textbook Room will open on May 31st and June 3rd from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm to return all borrowed items (books, textbooks, Chromebook, charger, etc.).
3) Final Transcript Request
4) Counseling
The Senior Survey MUST be completed by 3:00 pm on Thursday, May 23rd (please note date change) in order to receive your cap and gown, graduation tickets, and high school diploma. Stop by the Wolverine Center if you have any questions.
FAFSA Deadline Extended!
In consideration of the challenges students and families have experienced since the launch of the redesigned Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) the state filing deadline has been extended from April 2 to May 2, 2024. UC is encouraging students to complete the FAFSA or California Dream Act Application (CADAA) as soon as possible, but before the state deadline.
The California Student Aid Commission is hosting free Cash for College workshops across California to help students complete their FAFSA or CADAA applications. Find a local workshop.
College Updates
CSUSM
CSUSM reopened their application until May 15th
First year freshmen applications for Cal State San Marcos have been reopened and extended until May 15, 2024. You can still attend CSUSM and stay close to home.
Majors not available: all majors in the College of Business Administration, all Biological Sciences, and Nursing.
Submitting your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR)
UC Campuses:
All nine of UC’s undergraduate campuses will extend their Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) deadline for first-year undergraduate students to May 15. UC campuses have made this decision for students and their families impacted by the current delays to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
CSU Campuses:
The California State University (CSU) has extended the intent to register deadline for fall 2024 for new first-time, first-year admitted students to no earlier than May 15, 2024, in response to the further delays in the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) processing announced by the U.S. Department of Education. This extension applies to each of the 23 universities in the CSU system.
Private and Out of State Campuses:
Please check with the college you plan to attend to confirm their SIR deadline date.

Palomar College New Student Registration Support
In preparation for Summer and Fall 2024 registration, we have several registration support sessions (Flyer attached) happening in May to assist new students in the transition from high school to Palomar College.
Registration session for students who have an education plan and know which classes to take:
· Monday, May 6, 4pm – 5pm, San Marcos Campus
· Tuesday, May 7, 4pm – 5pm, Virtual (Zoom)
· Wednesday, May 8, 4pm – 5pm, San Marcos Campus
· Thursday, May 9, 4pm – 5pm, Escondido Center
· Monday, May 13, 4pm – 5pm, San Marcos Campus
· Tuesday, May 14, 4pm – 5pm, Rancho Bernardo Center
· Wednesday, May 15, 4pm – 5pm, Virtual (Zoom)
· Thursday, May 16, 4pm – 4pm, Fallbrook Center
Registration session for students who need help selecting and registering in classes:
· Friday, May 17, 12pm - 4pm, San Marcos Campus
· Saturday, May 18, 9am - 2pm, San Marcos Campus
Priority registration starts on May 6 and open registration starts on May 13. Seniors can sign-up for a registration support session. If unable to attend one of these sessions, students can sign up for a one-on-one appointment with a Success Coach!

SCOIR Information
If you applied to college, please update your SCOIR account.
Go to My Colleges in SCOIR, select a college you applied to, under application status select "Update Your Outcome" for each college.
For those colleges you have been accepted to, a green "Mark as Enrolling" button will appear. Select this for the school you will be attending in the fall.
Financial Aid Resources
New UC Financial Aid Resources
UC is excited to announce the launch of a new systemwide financial aid calculator. This new tool will allow students and families to estimate their financial aid and cost of attendance at any of our nine undergraduate campuses in one place. The calculator is currently available for California resident students. Information for nonresident students will be available in the coming weeks.

APSM Scholarship Deadline: May 6, 2024
APSM is pleased to offer scholarships to PUSD graduating high school seniors. The selections for the APSM scholarship are based on the following criteria:
· The student’s future goals include a career in the field of education.
· The student has successfully overcome adversity and exhibited resiliency.
Each comprehensive high school receives three $750.00 scholarships.
Please submit your name and rationale with a one-paragraph biography to Mrs. Beccarelli no later than Monday, May 6, 2024, so we can submit your name for consideration.
No Sweat Scholarship Deadline: June 30, 2024
$2,500 scholarship with your students. This quarterly scholarship is offered to all students from 8th – 12th grade and is super easy to apply. See attached a flyer with all the details (English and Spanish versions).

WASAC College Camp
WACAC (Western Association for College Admissions Counselors) is hosting a FREE 6 session virtual college bootcamp, Camp College, for rising seniors starting May 15. The sessions will be lead by current college admissions staff or trained college counselors (that are WACAC approved). All sessions are on Zoom and begin at 4:00 PM. The dates/topics of the sessions are as follows:
