Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Hello Seniors and Parents,
The FAFSA application is now available as of December 1st! Doing a FAFSA application can help student access federal financial aid for college, including grants, work-study, and loans. Beginning with the Class of 2025, it is a state law requirement for all seniors to either complete the FAFSA or sign a waiver. Checklist of what you need for your 2025-2026 FAFSA application.
Don’t worry—you’re not alone! Here are some options to help you through the process:
- Complete the FAFSA on your own at studentaid.gov.
- Schedule an appointment with EducationQuest (in person or via Zoom).
- Join us for FAFSA Night on January 15th at the Cozad High School Library. EducationQuest representatives will be there to guide you through the process.
Important: Please create your FAFSA IDs 1-2 weeks before attending.

COZAD LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS
Local Scholarships are currently being added to the Senior Website! All local scholarships are due MARCH 20TH to Mrs. Haarberg. You may find some of the PDFs say April 1st. I am currently working to get these all updated to the March 20th due date.

The Susan Thompson Buffett Scholarship
The Susan Thompson Buffett Scholarship is now open! Applications are due February 1st at 5PM and the financial documents are due March 11th at 5PM. I encourage students to have a teacher proof read their application!! For more information please visit: buffettscholarship.org

Scholarship Nights
We are here to help! During these four scholarship nights, senior sponsors Dawn Beans, Amanda Rossell, and Mrs. Haarberg the senior counselor will be available to assist with scholarship applications. Whether you need help reviewing essays or resumes, assembling scholarship packets, or just some encouragement to stay on track, we’re here to support you!
Unsure where to begin? Seniors were provided with four essay questions to start building from. It’s also helpful to make a list of local scholarships you can apply for. Be sure to consider factors such as in-state vs. out-of-state eligibility, financial need, GPA requirements, and more.
