Important News and Information
5th Grade Bridge to Middle School
We hope you are looking forward to the upcoming transitions in your child's academic journey. At OPA, we understand that the leap from 5th to 6th grade marks a significant milestone, and we are committed to ensuring a smooth and successful transition for our students.
We are excited to announce that we will be offering "Bridge to Middle School" program from June 17th
through July 11th, 2024, Monday through Thursday, 8:30am-12:30pm at OPA Middle School. This
program is designed to equip incoming 6th graders with the tools and knowledge they need to thrive in
middle school.
During the Bridge to Middle School program, our dedicated Middle School staff will cover essential
topics such as:
1. Middle School Expectations: We will provide insights into the academic, behavioral, and social
expectations of middle school, helping students understand what is required to succeed in this
new environment.
2. Middle School Relationships: Navigating relationships with peers and professors can be
challenging for incoming middle school students. Our program will offer guidance on building
positive relationships and effective communication skills to foster a supportive learning
community.
3. Self-Advocacy and Social Skills: Middle school success often hinges on a student's ability to
advocate for themselves and navigate social interactions confidently. Through interactive
activities and discussions, we will empower students to advocate for their needs and develop
essential social skills for success.
We believe that the Bridge to Middle School program will not only prepare incoming students
academically but also help them feel confident and empowered as they embark on this new chapter at
OPA Middle School. If you would like your child to participate, please complete this form by May 3,
2024.
We encourage all incoming 6th graders to participate in this invaluable program, as it will provide them
with a solid foundation for a successful transition to middle school.

OPA-SV Family Request for Assistance
In our ongoing commitment to supporting the well-being of every child in our community, we want to ensure that families feel empowered to seek assistance when needed. One way to initiate this process is by completing a request for assistance form. This form serves as a vital tool for families to communicate any concerns they may have regarding your child's behavior, emotions, or general mental health. By filling out this form, families can provide valuable insights that enable us to offer targeted support tailored to each child's unique needs. We encourage families to take advantage of this resource as we work together to foster a nurturing and supportive environment for our children to thrive.
