Help us Lord in every way,
to work our best throughout the day.
Help us Lord to think of others,
through the guidance of Mary our Mother.
Thank you for our caring friends,
whose friendship with us never ends.
Thank you, Jesus, for dying for us,
we love you Lord Jesus.

Message from the Principal
MID-YEAR REPORTS 2023 - Thank you to all parents who joined us for the Reporting Parent Information Night on Wednesday 21 June at 6pm. I would also like to thank
Mrs Catherine Bonham, our CEWA School Support Consultant, for spending the evening at
St Peter’s to explain the recent changes to our community. This was a wonderful opportunity for our parents to hear in greater detail the changes to our St Peter’s Primary School Report in 2023, as well as have the opportunity to have their questions answered.
This year, the GATe Reports will also be changing to align with the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) Pre Primary - Year 10: Teaching, Assessing and Reporting Policy. GATe Reports will no longer be included within the standard St Peter’s Primary School report, they will now be sent as a separate document via SEQTA Engage. I would like to thank Mrs Julia O’Meara for her hard work in updating our GATe reporting format.
All reports will be sent home by close of business on Wednesday 28 June via SEQTA Engage.
STAFFING UPDATE - At the end of this term, we will farewell Mrs Angela Seal, our Learning Support Co-ordinator and also Mrs Kate Cosnett our Year 5M teacher who has been covering Mr Uchanski for the term whilst he has been on leave. We will also wish Mrs Carmel Cameron all the best and safe travels, as she commences Long Service Leave for the second half of the year.
I would like to congratulate Mrs Angela Seal on her appointment as the Learning Support
Co-ordinator at Emmaus Catholic Primary School in Dayton. Ang has been an important part of the St Peter’s community for nearly 25 years! During her time at St Peter’s, Ang has had a variety of roles, including classroom teacher, learning support co-ordinator and Assistant Principal. Ang is well-respected within the community and has a wealth of knowledge in the learning support area, as well as across the English curriculum. I would like to thank Ang for the huge contribution she has made to St Peter’s community and the invaluable knowledge she has imparted on our staff. It has been a pleasure working with Ang and I wish her all the best in her new role!
Next week, we officially welcome Miss Alessia Fraser to Year One White.
In Term Three, we will also welcome Miss Eliza Hardie as our new Physical Education teacher, Mrs Tahlia Gismondi as our new Pre Kindy teacher, Miss Rebecca Kelson as our new 2M teacher and Mr Tony Hunter as the new Finance Officer at St Peter’s. Please join me in making all our new staff feel welcome to the St Peter’s Primary School community.
YEAR 6 WINTER CARNIVAL - On Thursday 15 June, our Year 6 students participated in the Catholic Education Winter Carnival. Our students played games of netball, football and soccer. Congratulations to all our Year 6 students who actively took part in their selected sport and proudly represented our school. Thank you to Matt Nettleton, Justin Fiume, Jo Carbone,
Steve Spencer, Jackson Lamb and Fran Hewitt for their support on the day.
YEAR 6 ASSEMBLY - Thank you to our Year 6 students and staff who entertained us this morning with a very memorable assembly item. The students treated the audience to a
walk-through memory lane, as they revisited personal highlights from Kindy to Year 6. The assembly shared special moments and events throughout their time at St Peter’s and raised a mixture of emotions as our student leaders celebrate their final year of Primary School.
ST PETER’S FEAST DAY - The St Peter and Paul's Feast Day is observed on 29 June. On our final day of Term Two, Friday 30 June 2023, we will celebrate St Peter’s Feast Day. We will begin the day with a whole school Mass at 9am prepared by the Year One classes, followed by fun activities with buddy classes. A highlight of the day will continue to be the Mission Day stalls, where students get the opportunity to purchase items and participate in a range of interactive games!
TERM THREE - During the school holidays, I will be travelling to Europe with my husband and will be taking Long Service Leave in Week One of Term Three.
In my absence, Mr Matt Nettleton, our Assistant Principal, will be replacing me. I look forward to seeing you all when I return to school on Monday 24 July 2023.
Thank you to all our parents and caregivers for your ongoing support throughout Term Two. It has been another enjoyable and successful term at St Peter’s. I hope that all our families have a safe and enjoyable two-week break. All students will be welcomed back to school for
Term Three on Monday 17 July 2023.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION ASSESSMENT MODERATION - This term, our staff have been working alongside the Religious Education and Faith Formation Team at CEWA to review and co-write assessment tasks for the Religious Education curriculum.
The staff worked with Dr Antonella Porcini to moderate these samples of work to use as exemplars for the RE judging standards.
FATHER JERONIMO - YEAR ONE VISIT - This week, the Year One students had a visit from Father Jeronimo. As the students have recently been learning about Reconciliation, Father J discussed the importance of loving God, loving one another and making good choices. We are extremely grateful that we have such a wonderful relationship with our School Priest, and it is always wonderful having Father J come to the school to visit the students.

I am pleased to advise that Megan Vu (Year 5) has been selected in the Calisthenics Association of Western Australia’s (CAWA) State Team, competing in the Australian Calisthenic Federation’s 33rd National Championships to be held in Brisbane next month.
This is a wonderful achievement, as being a State Team representative is something many strive for, but only a few are chosen. I’m sure you all join me in wishing Megan all the very best, and we look forward to hearing about the Championships on her return.
