Dear Families,
My name is Lindsay Dankmyer and I am your new Community School Liaison!
I have been a proud MCPS employee for nearly 20 years serving students and families in many different capacities. I’ve had the privilege of being a classroom teacher, an intervention teacher, a STEM specialist, and a Staff Development Teacher. My experience has allowed me to make connections with students and their families on both small and large scales.
As your new Community School Liaison, I will be the bridge that connects your family to available community services. I will work with community partners, local government agencies, and businesses to provide your family with wraparound services including, but not limited to, safe transportation to school, vision, dental, and hearing screenings, access to mental and behavioral health providers, extended school year programs, as well as enriching extracurricular after school programs and clubs.
I will accomplish all of this through a shared decision-making process that requires me to actively listen to the community’s needs. I will ask for your feedback through surveys, conversations, and focus groups. Your input and observations, along with other data collected, will help me to gauge the effectiveness of the services we are providing. I look forward to developing and maintaining relationships that will allow all community members’ voices to be heard.
My goal as your School Community Liaison is simple: I aim to elevate student and family engagement, coordinate services and supports that foster well-being, and expand learning opportunities for your children while promoting a welcoming school climate that values every member of the community and their diversity of experiences.
I am looking forward to meeting you and working with you to ensure all of our students thrive!

WHAT IS A COMMUNITY SCHOOL?
EVIDENCE OF IMPACT @ JACKSON ROAD
We loved working with the DHHS Dental Office to get our 2nd and 3rd graders' teeth cleaned and sealed to protect them from cavities!
Josie's Closet is a great resource for our students when they are in need of clothing, shoes, and jackets!
The Prevention of Blindness Society came and screened nearly 40 students for glasses. Students picked their two favorite pair (one for school and one for home).
Manna Food Bank provides 145 families at Jackson Road with weekend food bags on a weekly basis!
Jackson Road hosts a monthly Market Day - check out the flyer below for dates and times.
Panda Programmer is just one of the many after school activities we offer through Community School funding.
We love our partnership with our "sister school" Greenwood Elementary in Brookeville. They ran a coat drive so any student at Jackson Road who was referred for a winter jacket received one.
Colleen and Sophie from the Parent Encouragement Program (PEP) help run our Brilliant Futures Program for current Kindergarten and 1st Graders.
We strive to connect families with all types of resources available to them around the county by hosting resource fairs and inviting organizations to our school events throughout the year.
