Worthingway Weekly
November 8, 2024
Principal's Message
Last week I shared with you that our staff was going to engage in some Professional Learning on Tuesday, Nov. 5. This week, I'd like to report back with you what we did and how that went.
Our district and building focus for professional learning this year is Executive Functioning and Tier I Supports. This means that we are learning about ways in which our students are developing executive functioning skills and how we can support this development across our classrooms for all of our students.
I am really, really proud of our staff. During our learning on Tuesday, we engaged in deep learning and conversation about this topic in the morning. The morning sessions were led by some of our members of our Building Leadership Team (Abby Jinks, Caitlin Anderson, Lara Ruffing, Ben Rule, Toya Spencer). In the afternoon, we met in small groups (we call them TBTs - Teacher Based Teams) to apply our learning in practical ways in our classrooms.
As the building principal, I was proud to see our staff value this time together and be open to this learning. I am grateful that we have a staff that continually grows and seeks ways to become better each day. Ultimately, it is our students are benefit from this.

- Student Safety is our top priority. Please be mindful of our walkers and bike riders (we have bike racks on our bus drop off side). If you exit on the Guyer Street side, please yield to crossing students AND incoming buses.
- Doors open at 8:50 for student drop off. Students will be instructed to remain in the cafeteria or gym until 9:02. Classes begin at 9:10 and end at 3:50.
- We ask families to pull all the way forward to the end of our main lot at pick up time. Cars that stop at the front doors can create backups that extend onto Rieber St.
