**Great job on the nightly spelling and baggie book routine and helping your child read/recognize their weekly words. Please remember to sign the reading log each night. We greatly appreciate your help!

Please don't put money or forms in baggies with baggie books or in your child's book-bag or pocket. It would help us tremendously if you would please put it in an envelope and label what it is for and with your child's name as well. We greatly appreciate your help!

NEW SPELLING ROUTINE!
**We are excited to begin a new spelling routine! Our students have had a lot of success in previous years with spellling and reading. Spelling practice helps students with their encoding and decoding skills as well as their phoneme segmentation skills. All of these combined are examples what good readers need in order to be successful. Your child will have 10 "word family/Consonant-Vowel-Consonant words" to learn how to spell each week. There will be a simple exercise to complete each night with the words. We will send home the work for the entire week on Mondays. Your child has all week to complete them. It shouldn't take longer than 5-10 minutes to complete. The completed assignments can remain in your child's homework folder until Friday. We will check for completed assignments on Friday and give prizes for completion. Your child will also have a spelling test on those words on Friday.

Students will need to practice recognizing/reading their Weekly Words each night. High-Frequency word recognition is very important-90% of texts students read are these "high-frequency words".
