Celebrating Black History Month in Dance

This Black History Month, we honor and celebrate the profound impact of Black culture and Black artists on the world of dance. From the roots of hip hop to the innovations in jazz, modern, and contemporary dance, Black artists have shaped and continue to influence both commercial and concert dance in powerful ways. Dance has a rich history embedded in Black culture, and we are deeply grateful for the artistry, resilience, and contributions that continue to inspire generations.

Let’s take this month to recognize, appreciate, and uplift the Black voices and movements that have built the foundation of so much of what we love in dance today.

These classes are offered to build technique, create community, and increase performance opportunities for Helix dancers. The classes are attendance-based, so that means that we have to keep attendance up in order for them to continue to be offered for FREE for our students. Please consider adding one of these programs to your schedule, so that we can continue to offer dynamic, equitable dance programming to Helix Students!
