It’s a great day at RVA!!!
Happy Friday! We hope that you have had an excellent start to your four day Labor Day holiday weekend:). As we gear up for next week, I'd like to remind you of our upcoming Virginia Growth Assessments in Grades 3-8. Please connect with your child's teacher if you have not already received information from them regarding the upcoming assessments. Information about the assessments are also included in this week's newsletter. Finally, please take time this weekend to relax and enjoy time with families and friends!! Hoot Hoot and we will see you on Tuesday!!

Upcoming School Eevents
- Office Hours: RVA Office Hours are temporarily cancelled until further notice due to staffing shortages. For assistance with retrieving chromebooks, hotspots, or school supplies, please contact Principal Dr. Cyndi Robinson to schedule an appointment to pick up your materials for the year.
- September 10th- September 20th- Virginia Growth Assessments at Henderson Middle School (check with your child's teacher for details...parent letters included in this newsletter)
- September 18th-Back to School Night Virtual Meet & Greet with your RVA Teachers (Zoom link will be shared via Remind in the next two weeks).

Brand New Tech Swap Days at RVA
Richmond Virtual Academy will begin hosting Tech Swap Days on Wednesdays from 9am to 1pm at Henderson Middle School (unless otherwise noted via Remind). Our Ed Tech Integrator, Ms. Joselyn Verdi, will be in place to receive families in need of swapping out a chromebook, hotspot, and/or charger. Please be sure to fill out the form so that the team is able to better assist you when you arrive.

Virginia Growth Assessments-Fall 2024
Richmond Public Schools will be administering the fall Growth Assessments to students in grades 3-8 from September 10th - September 20th. Letters have been distributed by homeroom teachers to all RVA Owls in Grades 3-8; however, copies of these letters are also included below:
To prepare for these assessments, students should:
Get a good night’s sleep
Eat a healthy breakfast the morning of testing
Arrive to school on time
Refrain from bringing personal electronic devices into SOL testing rooms
Students wishing to practice using the SOL test application prior to their tests are encouraged to use the Virginia Department of Education SOL Practice Items found at https://va8.testnav.com/client/index.html.
Additional information about this assessment can be found on the VDOE Parent Resources Webpage at https://tinyurl.com/yt2mdz53. Questions regarding this assessment should be directed to your school’s testing coordinator, Tiffany Lindfors at tlindfor@rvaschools.net (middle school), Melinda Brooks at mbrooks4@rvaschools.net (elementary school) or Valenta Wade, RPS Manager of Testing and Data Systems, at vwade@rvaschools.net.
All testing will begin promptly at 9:30 A.M. If your scholar will need transportation on their date of testing, please fill out this form (middle school) or this form (elementary school) prior to Thursday, September 4, 2024. Breakfast and lunch will be available to all scholars on the day of testing.
