Principal's Corner
I hope you're all getting a chance to get out and enjoy these beautiful fall weather days! I LOVE this time of year!!
We've added a few new faces to our team since school started. Please join me in welcoming the following new staff members:
Miss Grace Cannon is one of our new Special Education paraprofessionals. She joins us from her home state of California where she worked with young children in a support role. She is enjoying working in one of our kindergarten rooms and is doing a great job!
Mrs. Meghan Carter is a new Noon-Hour Supervisor. She has children in the Grand Blanc schools and one who attends Cook Elementary. Mrs. Carter hit the ground running and one might think she's been doing this a long time!
Miss Shaniya Godard is another new Special Education paraprofessional. She holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Wayne State University and is really excited to start her career working with children.
Welcome to all new Cook Staff members we're thrilled to have you on our team!
As you know we made a change to our end of the day dismissal. It seems to be going pretty smoothly and we seem to now have our timing down so that it's working out well. Just a few reminders...1) Please remember to drive slowly! There are A LOT of moving parts out there and at certain points of dismissal there are very small children walking through the cars. Driving slowly helps keep everyone safe! 2) Once dismissal starts moving and cars are leaving, please do not drive into oncoming traffic to get to the Cook pick up area. At that point, just wait in the line and we'll try to move you along as quickly as possible. 3) If you see cars at the ends of the row it's really helpful if you can let them move out in front of you. It's like the double lines at McDonald's if we alternate it makes the line go much more quickly.
Our annual Halloween parade will be held at around 9:10 on Thursday, October 31st. Weather permitting, parents and visitors will stand outside while the students parade through the crowd. As you're choosing a costume please keep in mind that costumes should not have weapons with them and not be excessively gory/bloody. We will send out more information as the event gets closer.
Thank you for all you continually do to help your children be successful at school! We appreciate you! Please know, your child's safety and success is our number one priority. If you have any questions, concerns or just want to share information please give us a call at 810-591-7910 or you can email me personally at tdale@gbcs.org
Sincerely,
Tia Dale
