College Reps Coming to South (Juniors and Seniors)
College admissions reps began visiting CB South every block on Monday, September 23rd. Visits will continue through mid-November. Most times, these reps are the ones reading the applications for CB South applicants.
Check out the list of who is coming and register in Naviance! Go to Naviance--Colleges--College Visits to register.
Please put a reminder on your phone or in your calendar after registering. You will also receive an email reminder for visits you register for.
*Note: You must register the day before a visit, so please look at the schedule ahead of time. Students must have permission from their teacher to attend college visits and are responsible for work missed during class time. Pay close attention to times- Some visits are virtual and take place at 4pm, so you would login via link at home to take part in the session with the rep.
Senior College Application Process Information
All resources for the College Application Process can be found on the Student Services Page. All students and their families are asked to carefully review the Application Process Packet and Quick Guide to Requesting Transcripts & Recommendations (to the right side of the page) prior to making any kind of request for records. We recommend students only add colleges to their Common App list that they are definitely applying to. Do not add schools until you are certain they will be applying.
It is absolutely critical that the procedures we have in place are followed line by line to ensure that records are able to be pushed through Naviance. When students do the process out of order, it can lead to technical glitches that will delay our ability to process records requests through Naviance.
Financial Aid for College (Seniors)
Looking for resources to help you through the process of applying for financial aid? Need to learn more about the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid- which is REQUIRED of all financial aid applicants) or GRANT US (PHEAA’S NEW portal for state grants and other financial aid options)? Check out Our Toolkit Helps you Complete the FAFSA | PHEAA to find monthly webinars and other resources to help you through the process!
College Admissions Exams (SAT/ACT) Registration
Many colleges use the SAT or ACT as part of their admissions process. Students should consider taking either the SAT or ACT after they have completed Algebra 2. This will ensure they have covered the Math content that is on these exams. Typically, juniors test in the spring of junior year but every student must determine when they feel most ready.
Registration for the SAT/ACT is directly through the organization’s website (NOT through CBSD/MyPaymentsPlus). Do not wait until the week of the registration deadline (typically the month prior to the test date) to register as the site often crashes or is slow in the days prior to the deadline. To register for these exams, please use these links:
Volunteer Opportunities
Students who are looking to volunteer in our community should check out our Volunteer Opportunities bulletin board in the first-floor student services office (C119). Community service events will be updated throughout the year.
Attention!
It has been reported that cars are speeding through the Emerson Farm Development at arrival and dismissal times. We ask that everyone respects South's neighbors. Please drive safely as you arrive and leave school.

Cross Country
Friday October 25th was a historic day for the CB South Cross Country program, as they saw much success at the District One Championships.
The Girls' Cross Country Team placed an impressive 14th out of 56 teams, seeing three individuals qualify for the PIAA State Championship. In a field of over 360 runners, the dynamic duo of sophomores Grace Waibel (19:15) and Taryn Kotsur (19:17 PR) finished 33rd and 35th respectively. These placements comfortably secured spots in next weekend's state championship. Grace and Taryn have been the core of the girls team this season and run with poise and strength beyond their sophomore status. Other strong performances were turned in by senior Angela Crowley (21:15) and sophomore Maddie Coleman (21:47 PR). A special thank you to Angela for her years of service to the cross country team from the coaching staff.
The performance of the meet, however, came from senior star Riley Rooney. Rooney finished 4th overall. This is highest placement at the District One meet by a CB South cross country runner in school history. In addition to her placement, Rooney set a new school record for the 5000m running a blistering 17:42, smashing her previous best time (18:06) by 24 seconds. Rooney is ranked among the top five girls in Pennsylvania and looks to improve upon her 23rd place state championship performance from last year. This will be Rooney's 4th cross country state championship. Good luck in Hershey ladies!
The Boys' Cross Country Team also had an impressive day, running their best District One Championships in years. Finishing 18th out of 56 teams, the boys not only improved by 11 places as a team from last year, junior Sebastian Marquez-Ferber (16:12.2 PR) qualified for the PIAA State Championship. All seven varsity runners ran personal best times, placing well in a field of 391 runners. Coming in second for the Titans was senior captain Kenneth Konopka (16:12.9). Following Kenny was the young core of sophomores that look to lead the cross country program to continued success. Nate Meister (16:52), Darren Rafa (16:52), Ramsey Polis (16:58), and Lucas Vicente-Mendoza (17:06) ran impressive races, working together in a tight pack to help solidify the team standing. Rounding out the top seven for the Titans was senior and assistant captain Josh Sieto who broke the 18-minute barrier for the first time running 17:50. The future is bright for this young team. The coaching staff would like to thank Kenny and Josh for being great leaders and congratulate them on successful cross country careers at CB South. Good luck to Sebastian at PIAAs next weekend.
Football
CB South Football finished the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record and claimed the SOL National Division Championship with its 34-6 victory over Pennridge in the season finale.
After a scoreless first quarter the Titans exploded for a 21-point second quarter to put the game out of reach. Jimmy Wade helped get the Titans on the board with two touchdowns in the span of 30 seconds. Wade broke the scoreless deadlock when he took a handoff from Owen Pinkerton and scampered 44 yards for the opening touchdown of the game. He then pushed the advantage to 14-0 when he stepped in front of a pass from Pennridge quarterback Noah Keating and ran 28 yards for the pick six. Pinkerton added to the lead when he hit Danny Gies with 12 seconds to play in the half to give the Titans a 21-6 lead heading into the locker rooms.
Pinkerton finished the night with 12 rushing attempts for 66 yards and touchdown while Wade added 60 yards of his own on three carries. Pinkerton also added 74 yards through the air with a touchdown to his final stat line for the night.
Defensively, Jack Bartolillo led the team with 10 total tackles including seven solo and tackle for loss. Eddie Bowen finished with nine while Nick Micewski added five of his own including a tackle for loss and sack. Overall, the Titans limited the Rams offense to just 198 yards total for the evening.
Boys' Soccer
On Saturday, October 26, our Titans battled Neshaminy in the district quarterfinals. On the line was the chance to move on to the Semi-Finals in the district, but also a berth in States. The boys put on a dominating performance outshooting Neshaminy 20-0. However, the game was not without drama as the score was only 1-0 with five minutes to go when a clearance from our own defense accidently went towards our own goal. The heroics of goalkeeper Pat VanLuvanee kept the ball out of the net preserving the 1-0 victory punching out ticket to States!
With the win, the boys also progressed to the district semi-finals in a re-match of last year's state final against Conestoga. On October 29 the Titans travelled down to Teamer Field to take on the #1 ranked Pioneers. The first half saw our Titans create several scoring opportunities that either narrowly missed the net, hit the crossbar or were denied by a few great saves. The sport can be cruel sometimes, and in a game where our boys did everything that would normally result in victory, it was Conestoga that found the back of the net with only 20 seconds to go in the match. Heartbreaking, but there was a clear statement that day that CB South belongs in the upper echelon of teams in the state.
The boys are back at it for their final home game of the season on Saturday at 2 p.m. to play against Great Valley in a match that will determine who gets either the 3rd or 4th seed coming from District I in the State Tournament.
Girls' Soccer
1st round of the playoffs
No. 13 Central Bucks South 4, No. 20 Quakertown 1
It had been a while - 2016 to be exact - since CB South's last postseason win.
It had also been a while - going back to 2017 - since South played host to a playoff fixture, so Tuesday's victory over the visiting Panthers felt long overdue. A fast start and big performances from senior Alana Peev and junior Riley Karpinski made CB South's first home postseason victory since 2016 one to enjoy. Karpinski scored twice and assisted another goal, and Peev tallied three assists while helping in a lockdown defensive effort. Morgan Sowash also had a major impact, saving a first half penalty kick while the Titans led 2-0.
The offense created 15 shots on goal and scored on two corners and two set pieces. Quakertown fought hard all night, and with a 2-0 score had a penalty shot that was saved by Morgan Sowash. That could have made the game extremely interesting. It was a great team win. All players played a part in taking a positive step forward and winning their first playoff game in seven years. Hopefully, we can keep this going for a few more games it’s great to feel a playoff win."
Defensive standouts: "Delaney Rowe, Alana Peev, Grace Keane and Tenley Rogers for defending the speed of Quakertown’s attack all night."
Props: "Riley Karpinski, Olivia Daniele, Khloe Montini, Camilla Wright for putting offensive pressure on the defenders all night."
Second round of the playoffs
No. 4 Garnet Valley 2, No. 13 Central Bucks South 0
The Titans knew they had a difficult task going on the road to try and knock off a veteran and talented Jaguars team. It was going to be an uphill climb either way but falling behind early just magnified the task. While South wasn’t able to find the goals it needed, it didn’t take the luster off a season that saw the Titans host and win a home playoff game for the first time since 2016.
Just one minute into the game, a hand ball was called 19 yards away from the goal and Garnet Valley buried it to go up 1-0. The second goal was scored five minutes into the second half for a 2-0 score. Changing to a 3-4-3 system was the only option to try to get back in the game. It wasn't meant to be, we couldn’t find the first goal and the Garnet Valley GK made a few game saving saves. It was a season of ups and downs, but in the end, we accomplished some good things this year.”
Senior shoutouts: “I would like to thank all the seniors that made the season memorable. Olivia Daniele, Ella Kim, Brooke Rosica, Megan Schimdt, Ava Hessenthaler and captains Grace Keane and Olivia Wade. We had a special senior this year Haley Helsel that would have been a great back line player for us but due to an injury could not compete this year. Instead, she offered to be a manager and what a great one she was. She stayed involved in the program and helped out wherever she could. It was a pleasure having her around the team this year, she was a great mentor. I would like to wish all the seniors the best of luck as they move towards another chapter in their life. They are great kids, and I am sure they will do great things.”
Central Bucks South closed out its season with a 13-7-1 record overall.
