Warrior Weekly News
A Weekly Newsletter for Warrior Families and Students
December 6, 2024
Greetings Warrior Families and Friends,
Well, it seems winter finally arrived with this recent wave of cold. The winter season brings with it a lot of excitement at MHS related to the holiday season and the new winter sports season. One thing that stays consistent is that our students continue to learn from our amazing teachers every day. Whether it is an osmosis lab in Biology class, having a discussion related to The Things They Carry in English 11, or building a shed in Intro to Building: Fundamental Framing, our students experience a wide range of learning and opportunities. I love seeing our students pushed by our teachers to stretch their thinking, try new things, and develop skills they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.
In the realm of extracurriculars, we had a fantastic band concert this week that rocked the PAC full of many winter and holiday-themed songs. Wow, our musicians put on a great show. Additionally, our hockey team won a battle against a very strong University School team. Boys and Girls hoops are off and rolling as well, with both teams earning wins this past week. Finally, Wrestling won its first duel meet of the season versus Wilmot. Come see our Warriors compete if you are looking for something fun to do (calendar)! We have events for everyone. :)
I hope you all have time this weekend to ask about what your student is learning in their favorite classes and what they registered for during next week's Career Exploration Event. Our students are doing amazing things every day and have even more impressive things in their future!
One last ask, take a look at the attendance information below. Improving our attendance continues to be a building priority for MHS as we know how important it is!
Have an incredible (and WARM) weekend!
Go, Warriors!

Importance of Attendance
We know that regular school attendance is a priority for students.
- Our goal is that all students have a daily attendance rate higher than 95%, as we know it strongly impacts student achievement and success.
- Additionally, we want ALL MHS students to be College, Career, and Community ready. We know that a 95% attendance rate prepares our students to be successful beyond high school.
- Please reach out to Ms. Jen Gigl (jennifer.gigl@muskegonorway.org) for support if your student is struggling with attendance. We are here for you!

COUNTDOWN TO WINTER BREAK
PARKING & DRIVING AT MHS for 24-25 SCHOOL YEAR
From the Desk of SRO Kristalidis:
With our first winter weather day of the year, I thought this was a fitting reminder for any of you who are drivers. Especially if you are a newer driver and this is your first winter driving.
In addition to the tips on the poster below, an important reminder is that Wisconsin law requires you use your headlights during periods of limited visibility. Limited visibility means that objects are not visible from a distance of 500 feet from your vehicle (i.e.: when it's snowing, raining, or foggy).
Drive safely!
*Please take a minute to reinforce the need to be careful in school parking lots in terms of speed, honoring stop signs, and being extra attentive. We have lots of traffic and new drivers. We want to keep everyone safe. :)
For parking information, click here (map included).
