Principal's Message
Dear McKenzie Families,
As we approach Spring Break, I wanted to take a moment to wish you all a relaxing and joyful time with your loved ones. We’ve had a busy and productive few months, and this break is a well-deserved opportunity to recharge and enjoy the beautiful spring (and snowy!) weather.
We're looking forward to connecting with many of you today and tomorrow during our parent-teacher conferences. It's always a pleasure to discuss your child's progress and celebrate their achievements.
Before we officially close for the break, I want to share a quick reminder regarding our school resources. Just a friendly reminder that McKenzie Library Books and iPads do not travel with students over Spring Break. We kindly ask that you keep these materials at home so they do not get lost or left behind. If this happens, families will be financially responsible to replace them. We truly appreciate your cooperation in ensuring these valuable resources remain safe and ready for use when we return.
Wishing you a safe and happy Spring Break!
Dana

McKenzie, Please Take the CSCI Survey!
Dear McKenzie Families,
We need your valuable input! District 39 is conducting the Comprehensive School Climate Inventory (CSCI) to better understand and improve our school environment. This anonymous survey, which is being taken by students in grades 3-8 and families, helps us identify strengths and areas for growth.
- Why your input matters:
- A dedicated Joint Leadership Team will analyze the results to pinpoint areas for improvement.
- Building-level teams use this data to track progress and set new goals.
We're currently at 29% family participation and need your help to reach our goal! Please complete ONE survey per child by March 28th.
Click here to take the McKenzie survey.
Thank you to everyone who has already participated! Your feedback is essential.
Dana Nasiakos and Anthony Haduch
IAR - Illinois Assessment of Readiness
Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) is the state mandated assessment for students enrolled in public schools. A combination of both qualitative and quantitative data forms a complete picture of a child’s academic progress. IAR contributes one data point among many others. Although this assessment is administered in the spring, the results arrive from the state during the following academic year.
McKenzie School will administer IAR assessments in English Language Arts (ELA) and Math to 3rd/4th grade students between April 1st-3rd and April 8th-10th. Please limit doctor appointments and other family obligations during this testing window. Also, there is nothing to do to prepare for this test besides a good night's sleep and a healthy breakfast!
Specific dates and times for your child’s classroom will be sent by your child’s teacher.

Garden activities might include: simple garden tasks (weeding, watering, raking, sweeping), lawn games, crafts, chalk, etc. Sign up today, and thanks!
PS. If you’re interested in gardening, check out this upcoming workshop from our partners at the Talking Farm!
