Patriot's Pointe
Welcome to the 2024 - 2025 School Year Patriot Families!
Greetings Patriot Families,
We are so excited to see all of our students back in school tomorrow, August 5, 2024! We had a fantastic turn out for Open House and we hope all students were able to find a club, organization, artistic, or athletic group they can join for the upcoming year. This year we are beginning a new literacy initiative to ensure all of our students are reading! All students are expected to bring a school appropriate book to read during our study hall time on Tuesday and Thursday. Parents we are encouraging you to bring a book with you as well if you are visiting our campus on Tuesday and Thursday during study hall. We have gained some momentum with the percentage of students reading at or above grade level and we are looking to increase literacy for all students! Additionally, please don't forget that Summer Assignments are due on Friday, August 9, 2024.
This week students will engage in class meetings by grade level on Thursday and Friday. During this meeting students will get an opportunity to hear from their class sponsor about the exciting and unique things they will do together as a class and we will review the Fayette County Code of Conduct in detail. An electronic copy of the Code of Conduct is featured at the bottom of our newsletter for your review at any time.
Parents, we need your help!
Please check your individual student in the morning for the following items:
- No blankets, pajama pants, bedroom shoes/slippers, or robes
- Hoodies, hats, scarfs, bonnets can not be worn on students' heads when inside of the building
- Any shirt that exposes skin at the waist (including shirts that are tied in a knot at the back)
- Skirts and shorts must have a hemline that meets the finger tips in length
We want to recognize our outstanding marching band for giving us a preview of their halftime show on Saturday morning. They sound better than ever and we hope that everyone comes out to support our band and their new halftime show: Mars 2.0!
This week our Varsity Softball and Volleyball teams will face off against Hampton High School and Carrollton on the road to kick off their seasons! Our Varsity Football team will scrimmage against Starr's Mill at home on Thursday. A schedule of all of our events can be found further down in our "Weekly Happenings" section.
We are excited to support our students in their academic endeavors while providing them with a Competitive Advantage!

Parent Drop Off Procedures
Teachers and Staff please note the change in our new pick up and drop off locations. We are making this change to separate parents from student drivers and to ensure that students can safely cross the street to gain access into the building. All students will need to utilize the sidewalk and remain on that path to enter into the cafeteria. We have asked that parents not park their cars in any of the parking spaces so that our teachers can park their cars and arrive on time to work. We appreciate your support and patience!

*** Attention***
Parents of Rising 11th grade Students
As your child transitions to the 11th grade, we want to ensure their health and safety remains our top priority. This is a reminder regarding the meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV4) booster dose requirement for students who have turned 16 years old.
According to the Department of Public Health (DPH) guidelines, students are due for one booster dose of the meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV4), unless their initial dose was administered on or after their 16th birthday.
Please note that the DPH will be conducting an audit of 11th-grade students at SCHS on September 6, 2024. To facilitate compliance and ensure your child's participation in school activities is not disrupted, we kindly urge you to take this opportunity to schedule your child's vaccination appointment before September 6, 2024.

Free College Essay Help with Notable Narratives!
About Notable Narratives:
NN is a 501 (c)(3) college essay service organization that provides completely free college essay editing services to first generation and/or low income (FGLI) high school seniors applying to college. We do this by pairing college applicants with FGLI college students, as having an advisor that comes from a similar background will allow students to feel more comfortable receiving help
Since our founding in August 2020:
Our 90 FGLI college advisors have assisted over 1,750 students from 102 unique countries and all 50 states.
1 in 4 students who filled out our annual survey were accepted into an Ivy League or Stanford University.
94% of our students were BIPOC, and 50% identified as both first-generation and low-income.
We encourage you to read more about our impact through our Impact Report, website, and Instagram. We are excited to help even more students this year!
Next Steps:
Attached is a Registration Form for you to share with your students. NN’s services are available to those who self-identify as low income and/or first generation; students do not need to identify as both to apply. I will also be sending this resource to the SCHS counselors.
Summer Assignments
Summer Assignments
In keeping with our vision of providing students with a competitive advantage, the time has come to begin building for transfer into the next academic year! In an effort to prepare our current and prospective students for success in the next grade level, we are providing summer assignments to support all of our students who will matriculate through Sandy Creek High School over the next 4 years. The link below contains 2024 summer assignments for all rising 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students.
Our teachers have been thoughtful and intentional regarding the planning, collaboration, and creation of these assignments as they are designed to take no more than two hours to complete, by content. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to let me know. Thank you in advance for your partnership on our journey toward academic excellence.

Parent Square
The Campus Parent portal is your source for student and family records, including household and individual contact information, attendance, school-based fees, academic planning (high school), forms, and report cards. The Parent portal also provides access to the GaDOE SLDS Portal. Please set up the parent Infinite Campus account first. The same username will be shared with Schoology to set up your parent account in Schoology. Because each login reflects the person associated with the username, it is recommended that a separate account is created for each parent.
- Usernames can be comprised of letters, numbers, the underscore, and dash.
- Please refrain from creating a username that is all numbers, as that will interfere with student data here in our district.
- After completing the setup of your parent portal account, please allow 24 hours for your new account information to be sent to Schoology before attempting to log into your Schoology parent account.

The Infinite Campus app is available in the App Store and Google Play.
Friends and Family Sponsorship
We have a rich tradition in athletics here at Sandy Creek with more than 10 State Championships in sports such as football, basketball, track, and volleyball.
Our scoreboard was built in 1991 and we are in need of a new board to match our dynamic and talented athletic teams. The vision at Sandy Creek High School is to provide students a competitive advantage in whatever endeavor they choose after high school. With your assistance we can help the students prepare for those endeavors while branding your business and supporting our community. Please view the information attached about the sponsorship and digital scoreboard.
We would like to recognize our FIRST Family Sponsor, The Harvey Family! The Harvey Family has donated $1,000 to our scoreboard fundraiser and we are hoping you can match or double their contribution soon! Who will be next to accept the challenge????
Corporate Sponsorship
SCHS hopes that your company would be interested in becoming a premier sponsor for our digital scoreboard program! Choose from one of four value packages below to present your brand and message to students and fans within your community while supporting the schools and helping fund a platform that provides real career opportunities for students
