24 - 25 Parent Newsletter - Issue #32
Dear TVHS Students and Families,
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Jacob Stuck, TVHS Ceramics Teacher, and Ms. Grace Donnelly, CHS Ceramics Teacher, along with their talented ceramics students from both campuses, for their incredible work in bringing Empty Bowls Evening to life. This meaningful event, in support of the Mission of Hope, was a true showcase of collaboration and creativity. We are proud to share that over $4,500 was raised to benefit the Mission Hope—an amazing testament to the generosity and spirit of our Golden Bear community. Special thanks also go to our TVHS ASB, Culinary students, and the many gifted performers who filled the night with beautiful music. With strong support from staff, families, and community members, the evening was a tremendous success. Guests enjoyed a wide variety of musical performances, left with handcrafted ceramic bowls made with care, and savored delicious soups provided by our generous local partners. It was truly a memorable and heartwarming evening that reflected the very best of our community at large.
As we enter this third week of April, we will continue with CAASPP testing for ELA. Please refer to the block schedule for this week. We kindly ask that you remind your student to arrive with their device fully charged and ready to showcase their academic efforts—let’s showcase our Golden Bear academic excellence!
In addition to testing for our juniors, there are plenty of exciting events happening this week, including a Track Meet, AFJROTC Change of Command, TVHS Film Festival, TVHS vs. CHS Baseball game at Storm Stadium, and the Inaugural TVHS Unity Car Show on Saturday. We encourage families to come out and support our students!
While we are proud of the many positive accomplishments across our campus, we must also take a moment to address some recent concerns. On Friday, we observed disappointing behavior during the lunch period, including a lack of respect for our campus facilities and those who work hard to maintain them. Our lunch areas are shared spaces, and we expect all students to help keep them clean, safe, and welcoming. Behavior such as throwing food, littering, damaging school property, or disrespecting staff will not be tolerated. Consequences may include campus cleanup, detention, suspension, and financial responsibility for any damage caused.
Additionally, an increasing number of students have begun to misuse their 5 Star bathroom privileges by lingering at lunch table areas and outside restrooms rather than returning to class within the designated pass time. When approached by staff, students are expected to display their 5 Star pass. Failure to do so will result in disciplinary action and a loss of these privileges.
As I shared over the last two weeks, we have instituted our tardy gate closures as of last week. We have already been impressed with the decrease in the number of students arriving late in the mornings. As a reminder, we close all perimeter gates immediately after the Period 1 bell. Students who arrive late will be assigned a tardy at either the Margarita or Bldg 1 Attendance gates if they are not on campus by the time the bell rings. As we’ve emphasized, it is essential that Period 1 instruction is treated with the same importance as every other period throughout the day to ensure student success. We truly appreciate your continued support and cooperation.
As we enter the final quarter of the school year, it is more important than ever to maintain a respectful, responsible, and supportive environment for all. We encourage our students to take pride in being members of the Golden Bear community by holding themselves—and one another—accountable. By continuing to embody our BEARS core values, our students show why Golden Bears are among the very best in the Temecula Valley—carrying forward our proud traditions and embracing the golden opportunities that lie ahead.
Thank you for your continued partnership in making TVHS a place where all students can learn, grow, and thrive. Go Bears!!!

National Arab American Heritage Month
National Arab American Heritage Month has been observed during the month of April since 2017. During the month of April, the Arab America Foundation formally recognizes the achievements of Arab Americans through the celebration of National Arab American Heritage Month (NAAHM). Across the country, cultural institutions, school districts, municipalities, state legislatures, public servants, and non-profit organizations issue proclamations and engage in special events that celebrate our community’s rich heritage and numerous contributions to society.
Arab America and the Arab America Foundation launched the National Arab American Heritage Month initiative in 2017, with just a handful of states recognizing the initiative. Each year, our grass-roots network of over 250 Arab American volunteers in 26 states gathers hundreds of proclamations from their states, counties, municipalities, and local school districts. If you would like to join a state team please contact Dr. Amal David.
The President of the United States recognized the month of April as National Arab American Heritage Month with a special commemorative letter to our organization. In 2022, Congress, the U.S. Department of State, and 45 state governors issued proclamations commemorating the initiative.
Not all Arab Americans celebrate Ramadan. However, many members of the Muslim faith celebrate the month of Ramadan that began the evening of February 28, 2025 and ended in the evening of March 31, 2025.
According to the Islamic Networks Group (ING), “Ramadan is considered one of the holiest months of the year for Muslims. In Ramadan, Muslims commemorate the revelation of the Qur’an, and fast from food and drink during the sunlit hours as a means of drawing closer to God and cultivating self-control, gratitude, and compassion for those less fortunate. Ramadan is a month of intense spiritual rejuvenation with a heightened focus on devotion, during which Muslims spend extra time reading the Qur’an and performing special prayers. Those unable to fast, such as pregnant or nursing women, the sick, or elderly people and children, are exempt from fasting.”
During Ramadan many families fast during the day but do eat at night (after the sun goes down) and in the morning (before the sun comes up).
On April 10th @ 6pm the Race, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (REDI) Commission for the City of Temecula (41000 Main Street, Temecula, CA 92590) celebrated Arab American Heritage Month by holding a proclamation for Arab American clubs from our high schools
National Deaf History Month
April is also National Deaf History Month, a unique opportunity to highlight the importance of inclusivity and equal accessibility for those who are deaf, hard of hearing, or experiencing hearing loss within our local communities. National Deaf History Month is recognized and celebrated every year from April 1st to April 30th. During this time, we honor and remember the accomplishments of d/Deaf and hard of hearing individuals.
National Deaf History Month was a part of a past Seal of Civic Engagement Project that we are proud to share with all of our amazing schools to celebrate this month.

City of Temecula Youth Entrepreneur Program & Leadership Academy
This summer the City of Temecula’s Workforce Development Department is hosting the Youth Entrepreneur Program and the Leadership Academy. These two programs are exclusively for high school students who are interested in spending their summer in a fun and enriching learning environment.
The Youth Entrepreneur Program is a 6-day program over two weeks geared toward business-minded individuals or anyone who has an interest in entrepreneurship. Students will learn the skills they’d need to start a business, listen to engaging local guest speakers about their experience with entrepreneurship, and develop their own mock business with their peers. The program concludes with a mock business pitch before a panel of judges.
The Leadership Academy is a 5-day program over two weeks which aims at equipping high school students with useful skills for future success. This includes career education, college preparation, and other life skills. Examples of activities include resume building workshops, information on college admissions and an opportunity to write and receive feedback on college essays, and lifestyle activities to improve public speaking skills and time management. This program features many guest speakers to help guide and instruct students.

For 6th Graders ONLY - CTE "Get the Scoop on CTE Pathways @ TVHS"
The TVHS National Technical Honor Society chapter is tasked each year with organizing a community service project. This year, our CTE students wanted to put together a fun night that allows 6th grade students to explore the CTE Pathways that they have been involved in as capstone students.
They have decided to organize a "CTE Scoop Night" where 6th grade students (only) can get the scoop on the CTE pathways offered at TVHS that will eventually lead to career opportunities. The event will be held on April 24, 2025 from 5:30-7:30pm in the mini gym at TVHS. ELA Caaspp State Testing This Week!!!
Juniors will round out testing this week with the ELA CAASPP portion.
In addition to being a measure of the performance of TVHS, the CAASPP:
Measures how well students have mastered the skills and content presented in our classrooms
Gauges students’ college and career readiness
Is an important factor affecting both entrance to universities and placement in courses
May exempt students from taking support level English or math courses at California universities through the EAP (Early Assessment Program) system
Is 1 of 3 criteria to earn Golden Graduate honors at graduation
Students will need to bring their charged school issued chromebook and earbuds (if they have them) each day of testing.
Please encourage your student to put forth their best effort and to get solid rest, to eat a good breakfast and to arrive at school on time on test days. We are confident our Golden Bears will be GOLDEN on these exams and continue TVHS’ reputation as an exemplary school!
Thank you for all you do to support our Golden Bears!
