January 2023

January is Mental Wellness Month
The beginning of the year is the perfect time to think about you and your family's mental wellness, and evaluate how you can integrate mental and physical health.
The AACPS Wellness Council "values wellness for its students, employees, and community and believes that their well-being will ultimately enhance the learning process for all."
Visit the Wellness Toolkit to see how AACPS, in following the CDC's Healthy Schools initiative, focuses on 10 areas of Wellness to improve learning and health.

Attendance Matters
Why is regular attendance important for all grade levels?
- Students are more likely to succeed when they attend school regularly.
Patterns start early: regular attendance in the early grades creates a habit of attending school throughout elementary, middle, and high school.
Regular attendance contributes to success in reading proficiency and other subjects.
Middle school attendance and grades are indicators of how a student will perform in high school.
If your child is experiencing academic difficulties due to poor attendance, regular attendance can help them improve in school and change the pattern of missing school.
Reach out to your School Counselor for help with attendance concerns.
