PRINCIPAL'S WEEKLY MESSAGE
Happy Friday Ridgeview families! Here are your weekly updates.
Hello everyone and welcome to 2025! We hope everyone had a relaxing and peaceful winter break. The weather was unseasonably warm, but who doesn’t love sunshine! As we prepare to get back into the swing of things for Monday’s return, let us review some important information:
If students wish to have breakfast at the building, please have your student here no later than 7:05 am. Doors will open around 6:50 am. We feed, on average, over 350 students each morning so the earlier they can get here the better.
1st period begins at 7:15 am. Any student not in their 1st period class by this time will be marked tardy to school.
If parents are dropping off or picking up students, please pull into the car lot, which is to the left of the building (when looking at it from the street). The right lot is for buses only during the school day. Also, please do not drop off/pick up on Hill Rd.
All students must return to abiding by our school dress code: Slides/sandals are not permitted shoes and clothes should be appropriate to wear to school - covering all necessary parts (with proper wording/pictures on all clothing).
If you’re dropping off items to a student, you’ll be asked to label and leave all items in the vestibule for a secretary to pick up. Families will no longer be buzzed into the main office unless they have an appointment with building personnel.
With the start of the new grading period, we are reminding all families that students' personal communication devices (anything that can connect to WiFi) should be turned off and put away as soon as they enter the building each day. If it is seen, it will be confiscated. It will only be returned to the student on the 1st occurrence. After that, a parent/guardian will have to pick it up.
Early student pick-up must be before 1:45 pm on all school days. Personal communication devices pick-up is from 8:00-1:45 pm and 2:30-3:00 pm daily as long as school is in session.
We thank you all in advance for following our building/office procedures. If you ever have questions, please contact a building administrator.
Quarter 2 Final Grades will be able to be viewed in IC sometime at the end of the week of Jan 6th. If your student has an “I” for a grade, which stands for incomplete, this grade will be updated as soon as all necessary work has been completed. Teachers have given these students a timeline of when the work must be turned in for grading purposes. If you have any additional questions about grades, please contact your student’s teacher(s).
Our overall building attendance has dropped significantly at the end of quarter 2. Families please understand that students being tardy to school also affects our school-wide attendance as much as students being absent all day. Our goal for this year is 95%. Right now we are nowhere near that goal and our 8th grade class is bringing up the rear (90%). Unfortunately, discipline affects these numbers as well. We want to start 2025 strong but we need all students in the building and on time in order for us to meet our goals. If you have questions about student attendance, please contact either myself or our Dean of Students, Sydney Dillard.
Lastly, we are now in quarter 3 and the 2nd semester. Press upon your students, especially 8th graders, the importance of not slacking off in the classroom during Q3. With state testing right around the corner, we need to stay focused. In a lot of ways, Q3 is the longest grading period of the school year, which makes it the most important. This quarter should be the stepping stone to set students up for success for the remainder of the year. Let’s get started off on the right foot to finish strong!
Take care. We’ll see y'all next week! GO TIGERS!

Early Dismissal Information
District Policy states that only guardians listed on Infinite Campus are permitted to pick up their student. If your student needs to be picked up early by someone who is NOT their guardian, a guardian must call the office to let us know who will be picking up their child. The other adult must present a valid ID to office staff for the student to be released to them.
Personal Communication Devices:
Pick-up times for Personal Communication Devices will be Mon - Fri in the main office from 8:00 am - 1:45 pm and again from 2:30 pm - 3:00 pm as long as school is in session. The main office closes at 3:00 pm daily.
We’re collecting more devices daily. If your student has a device confiscated and it doesn’t belong to them, the person that it belongs to AS WELL AS the student who had it taken from will be added to our spreadsheet for a confiscated device. Please make a note of this.

HELP Make Our Schools Safer
The Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Public Safety have launched the SaferOH tip line that will accept both calls and texts 24 hours a day.
This tip line allows students and adults to anonymously share information with school officials and law enforcement about threats to student safety—whether that involves a threatened mass incident or harm to a single student.
Every tip can remain anonymous. School safety analysts may ask for additional information, but the caller can remain secret or leave his or her contact information for later follow-up.
Calls or texts to 844-SaferOH (844-723-3764) are answered by analysts in the Ohio Homeland Security’s Threat Assessment and Prevention (TAP) Unit. When action is needed, the TAP Unit immediately forwards information to Pickerington Schools, local law enforcement agencies, and others, if necessary.
