Thompson Friday Forecast
December 22, 2023
From the Principal... Matt Clark
Good afternoon and happy holiday break parents and guardians. This semester has felt like it flew by! I could not be happier with the achievement and growth of the Thompson community over the past five months. To celebrate our growth, today we held an all-school assembly to have some fun and recognize all the great things the Thompson students have achieved this school year. The assembly was a blast, and was especially fun for Team 8-4 who won the Team Competition and will earn an all-team pizza party when we return in January.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t take this opportunity to fawn over our incredible PTO for the cookie boxes they put together for staff members this week. A huge thank you to all the parents and guardians who donated their time and money to bring in cookies. And again, huge props to our fabulous PTO volunteers who spent hours on Wednesday putting the boxes together.
Finally, as we enter our winter break, I want to inform you about some upcoming schedule changes at TMS. These adjustments serve various purposes, including balancing class sizes, accommodating new students joining our school community, moving students in and out of interventions, and addressing behavioral challenges by creating separate schedules.
We understand that schedule changes can have an impact on students, and we strive to minimize disruptions as much as possible. However, in certain instances, adjustments are necessary to ensure the smooth functioning of our academic environment.
To ensure a seamless transition, please encourage your child to check their schedule in HAC on Monday, January 8, before returning to school on Tuesday, January 9, 2024. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
I hope everyone has a fun and restful winter break and look forward to seeing the students returning on January 9th!

The Peer Leadership Program for Incoming St. Charles East Freshmen
Dear Parents of 8th Graders Attending East,
Peer Leadership is an extracurricular program that matches selected incoming freshmen with juniors and seniors who make the transition into high school fun and easy and mentor them throughout the year. Because this program meets during the school day, it has to be put into a student’s schedule when registering for next year’s classes. Although we would like to be able to offer this to all interested incoming freshmen, our numbers are limited by available classroom space and our budget. Therefore, in order to start the selection process, interested students should apply using the application found here:

If your child is interested in the program, please fill out the application and e-mail it to Kelly Pursel, the Peer Leadership Coordinator (Kelly.Pursel@d303.org). Completed applications must be received no later than Monday, January 22nd, 2024. For more information about Peer Leadership, please attend Future Saints Night in January.
We hope to hear from you!

¡Esperamos tener noticias suyas!
Future North Star Night - New Date!
In light of the pending School Board decision in February on high school attendance boundaries, we are rescheduling the Future Freshmen event from January 11 to January 17. The new date will allow all District 303 future freshmen to attend an event focused on the district-wide high school course offerings and course selection process. Regardless of high school assignment, it is important to have incoming freshmen course requests at this time in eSchool. This will allow the high schools to begin the sectioning and scheduling process for the 2024-2025 school year immediately following the boundary decision.
An athletic and activity event for future North Stars will be scheduled once the boundaries are established. More details about the event on January 17 will be shared following Winter Break.
More information on the District’s boundary process, including a timeline of upcoming meetings and concept maps, can be found at district.d303.org/boundary-updates.
