Principal's Message
Welcome back Huskies!
We look forward to seeing our Huskies on Monday, March 31st
for our 1st day back after spring break.
Thank you Brandon Leake!
The week before spring break Brandon Leake spent a week teaching writing in all kindergarten through sixth grade classes. Mr. B also played basketball with students at recess time and answered lots of questions about being the winner of America's Got Talent! We ended the week with Oakwood's first ever (but not last!) Open Mic session! Students had the opportunity to write their very own poem and perform it in front of students, staff, and families. Students were so brave with their willingness to share their hopes, dreams, wishes, and pains through their writing.
We are hoping to bring Mr. B back again very soon!
Middle School Course Catalog (6-7)
English:
Lodi USD has released a new Middle School Course Catalog! It includes information about core subjects such as English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Science, Physical Education, and foreign languages (available at select sites). Please note that elective offerings vary by school, and site staff will provide additional details. The catalog also includes information about A-G requirements to help families understand college and career readiness. While the College/Career Indicator (CCI) and Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways are part of high school, middle school is a great time to start thinking about future opportunities.

Crosswalk Safety
In order to continue keeping our Oakwood students, staff, and families safe before school at drop off and after school at dismissal, we are asking our community to follow all California laws pertaining to our crosswalk. Please see before for reminders.
California law requires drivers to yield to pedestrians at all crosswalks, including those near schools. Drivers should be especially careful in school zones, where children may not be aware of traffic.
Laws for school crosswalks
- California Vehicle Code (CVC) 21950: Requires drivers to yield to pedestrians at all crosswalks, including those near schools
- CVC 21368: Covers marked pedestrian crosswalks near school buildings
- Daylighting law: Prohibits parking within 20 ft of any marked or unmarked crosswalk
Other safety tips for school crosswalks:
- Drivers should be prepared for sudden stops and avoid distractions
- Drivers should slow down and yield to pedestrians at crosswalks
- Drivers should look for pedestrians and be prepared to stop, whether or not the crosswalk has flashing lights
