Dear TGS Students & Families:

Last week we shared about Kate Livingston’s departure from TGS this summer. We are excited to announce that Trina Hurt will join Laurel Wakeley as the new Dean at The Graham School for the 2024-2025 school year. We would like to share a brief introduction and message from Trina:

Hello The Graham School Students, Staff and Families,

It is my honor to introduce myself to you as a new Dean at The Graham School beginning the 2024-2025 school year. My name is Mrs. Trina Hurt (students may call me Mrs. Hurt or Ms. Trina), and I am excited to join this unique learning community.

Allow me to share a bit about my background. Professionally, I come to The Graham School with 33 years of experience in education having previously taught on the college level, the preschool level, and currently at the high school level at The Charles School where I teach 11th grade English and College Support. I also have served for over 20 years in youth and adult ministry. In both arenas, I have held teaching and administrative positions and look forward to continuing my administrative journey with The Graham School.

Personally, although I am new to the role of Dean, I have been a member of The Graham Family of Schools for many years as my daughter graduated from Graham in 2011, and my youngest son is a Junior at The Charles School. Therefore, not only will I be an administrator, but I will continue to be an involved and concerned parent as well. I also have an older son, two dogs, five chickens, a wonderful husband of almost 22 years, and some say, the best chocolate chip cookie recipe in Columbus!

I believe in The Graham School. And, I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you in the coming months as we work together to make Graham a place where students, staff, and families feel valued, seen, and inspired.

Every time you shop and use your Kroger Rewards Card Graham gets rebates. Kroger totals those rebates and sends Graham a check.

The Graham Family of Schools participates in the National School Lunch Program that allows for all families to apply for free or reduced meals. Lunch is available to all students. Should they choose not to participate in the school meal program, students may bring their lunch from home. NO OUTSIDE FOOD MAY BE ORDERED OR DELIVERED AS THIS DIRECTLY VIOLATES THE NATIONAL SCHOOL LUNCH PROGRAM POLICY.

Our partnership with EL Education empowers our teachers to unleash the potential of their students. EL Education is built on ten design principles that reflect research based thinking about teaching, learning, and the culture of schools. The Graham School's habits of learning have grown out of the design principles: Self-Direction, Perseverance, Teamwork & Collaboration, Service & Stewardship, and Adventure & Risk.

TGS is a School-wide Title 1 program, enabling us to receive Federal Funds to ensure that our students receive the support they need to reach and exceed grade level goals in reading and math. Per House Bill 21 community schools are required to perform a monthly review of student files and randomly select families for residency verification. Please contact the school immediately in case of an address change. Proof of residency must be submitted within two weeks of an address change. If evidence is not provided, requests for additional documentation or a home visit may occur.
