๐ On May 30th, 6th grade students will attend a Pit Spitters game! Students were sent home with the informational parent letter and permission slip on Friday, but they are also linked below just in case!

Language Arts
๐ง๐ฝโ๐ผ Career Presentations
Students will research careers of their choice and create a presentation to share with the class.
Students will present information about their chosen career to the class.
๐ Remarkable Accomplishments in Space Science
Students will read a text that describes the final events before the Apollo 11 launch. Students will engage with the text using the annotating text protocol. Students will continue to develop their ability to identify the way in which an authorโs use of words with specific connotations helps express point of view.
- Students will read the article, Benefits of NASAโs Space Technology on Earth and evaluate multiple claims and how well each claim is supported with evidence in the text.

๐๐ฝ๐๐ป๐๐ผ WELCOME TO OUR CLASSROOM MS. REAMER!
Ms. Aspen Reamer will be taking over as long-term substitute for the remainder of the year. She will be working closely with Ms. Smith and the 6th grade team to help our students finish strong in science class. Thank you for being here, Ms. Reamer!
โก๏ธ Last Week: Students completed moon phase practice, the moon phase test, and finished group work. I am excited to start our next part of the Unit!
๐ This Week:
- STUDY GUIDE-Included BELOW
- Test on Friday (We will be starting our NEW unit on Light/Stars/ and Planets) :)

๐ฏ The test will take place FRIDAY!
- Students will be given MONDAY/TUESDAY in class to work on their study guide.
- I will have keys in class so they can check their answers when they finish.
- THERE WILL BE RETAKES ON THIS TEST!
๐ RETAKE- MOON PHASE TEST
- Retakes on the Moon phase test will take place IN CLASS Tuesday. I have included the study materials below just in case you want to study over the weekend.
- If your student was absent, they can complete the test anytime next week in class to still get full credit.
โ ๏ธโ ๏ธโ ๏ธ If your student is missing the "FOR ALL MANKIND" Worksheet, I have a few papers with NO names. If they were absent or did NOT turn it in, they are welcome to complete it for full credit. The video and the worksheet is on Google Classroom. Extra worksheets are also available in the 6th grade science classroom.

Social Studies
๐ฝ๐ Last week, we spent time studying various maps of the United States and Canada. Students explored political, physical, and climate maps of the region to better understand the borders and major physical features of the area. This week, we will explore our Savvas textbook to take a closer look at the human populations of these two countries. Some questions we will explore include:
- Where do people live in the U.S. and Canada?
- Why do people move to new locations in the U.S. and Canada?
- What cultures exist in different parts of the U.S. and Canada?

๐ฒ We are finishing the movie Chupa this week. Students have been answering questions about the movie in Spanish and doing a worksheet to go along with the film.
Read 180
๐ This week in READ 180 we will be practicing CER responses, which stands for Claim, Reasoning, and Evidence. Students will be learning about, planning, and building structures! Ask your student about their structure, and what evidence and reasoning they had to design it the way they did!
Father Fred Back to School Event
๐๏ธ The Father Fred Foundation is hosting a Back to School event for the local area at the end of the summer. This event includes new shoes and socks for toddlers to teens, eye exams and glasses (if needed), and school supplies (while supplies last). Please see the attached flyer for more details and to register for this event!
