Dear Parents/Carers,
This week, we have had a busy week of workshops to enhance our curriculum further and the children have thoroughly enjoyed listening to talks about varying subjects.
On Tuesday, Yorkshire Water delivered an assembly about water safety to Key Stage Two pupils. This was followed with class discussions about water sustainability and how we can all work together to save water.
On Wednesday, our youngest pupils had a Road Safety workshop with resources provided by BRAKE entitled, ‘BEEP, BEEP!’ In the session, they were taught the importance of holding hands with a grown-up when walking near roads and crossing roads at safe places with a grown-up.
On the same day, we welcomed a speaker in who held a whole school assembly about democracy and voting before leading a Q and A session for Years 4-6. She took feedback from the pupils about improvements they would like to see in their local area and community.
A few Memorable Moments
I am always overjoyed when a pupil asks to take home a book from my recommended list. Heather, in Year 3, has taken numerous books from my selection and came to see me this week to give feedback on David Walliam’s book, ‘The World’s Worst Teachers’, stating it was one of the best books she has ever read! It is now available to be read again if your child would like to borrow it.
This week, a pupil in Year 1 showed me a story she had written about the book, ‘The Hunter’. The story was beautifully written, full of content and had a description using similes! I was blown away. I think we have a future author in the making.
All our pupils enjoy Geography lessons at Larks Hill. Three boys came to show me their work on Egypt this week. The work was detailed, full of interesting facts and carefully illustrated. Well done to Alfie, Edward and William.
This week, our Year 6 pupils won the area tag rugby tournament for a second year running! This is an amazing achievement and has provided us with yet another trophey for our growing collection. Well done to the worthy winners!
