Dear SHS Community,

On behalf of Secaucus High School, we extend our warmest wishes for a joyous holiday season and a healthy New Year. As you enjoy the extended winter break, we hope you find meaningful time to connect with friends and family. This is a wonderful opportunity to rest and recharge, but it’s also a great time to catch up on activities that may have taken a back seat during the busy year.

As a reminder, Secaucus School District will be closed from December 23rd and will reopen on January 2nd.

Marking Period 2 Progress Reports opened today in the Realtime Parent Portal. Please reach out to our school counseling department with any questions or to schedule a meeting.

Midterm exams are approaching and will take place January 21-24. During this week, High School students will follow a one-session day schedule, with dismissal at 11:40 AM.

Midterms account for 5% of the overall grade, so we encourage students to begin their review process early and reach out to their teachers for support if needed.

• January 21: Period 1 & Period 9
• January 22: Period 2 & Period 8
• January 23: Period 3 & Period 7
• January 24: Period 4, Period 5, & Period 6

Students from the Coding Club along with their advisor, Ms. Swami, recently organized a Secaucus Hacks event on December 7th.The event was a huge success, with about 100 students participating from 24 high schools and middle schools across New Jersey. It was amazing to see students from diverse backgrounds come together to showcase their creativity and problem-solving skills.

Congratulations to the members of our concert band and chorus for delivering a truly remarkable performance on Wednesday night! Before the show, students from our National Honor Society and SAIL program warmly welcomed members of our senior community to a delightful pre-concert dinner. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this evening so special!

Students in Dr. Fitzsimons' Art I class had the incredible opportunity to spend the day at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City this past Friday. The students explored exhibits spanning centuries of creativity, from ancient artifacts to contemporary masterpieces. Students engaged with iconic works, deepened their understanding of artistic techniques, and gained inspiration for their own creative endeavors. This hands-on experience not only enriched their appreciation of art but also brought classroom lessons to life in a meaningful and memorable way.

All students are reminded to be in proper dress code each and every day which includes wearing the proper bottoms (khaki pants or sweatpants with the appropriate logo). Please see below for a point of reference.

The high school main office is also collecting gently used uniform items. All donations are greatly appreciated!
