Washington SUN Bucks Summer EBT Program
Beginning this summer of 2024, the state of Washington will launch a new Summer EBT program called SUN Bucks. The program will provide families with $120 for each eligible school-aged child to buy food when school is out.
Eligible families will receive a one-time payment of $120 in food benefits on a dedicated SUN Bucks EBT card. SUN Bucks will be issued beginning mid-June through the end of August 2024. This is a separate program from the Pandemic EBT (P-EBT). Once qualified, families will receive an approval notice and a new SUN Bucks EBT card via U.S. Mail. SUN Bucks benefits expire 122 days from issuance. Please remember to hold on to your card for any future support. If would like to decline the funds, please see the instructions in the approval notice letter.
To qualify for the program, families need to complete a family income survey. --most families did this in the beginning of the school year. You can double check with the office staff to see if yours is on file. Qualified families must verify their mailing address is up to date in their ParentVUE account to ensure the SUN Bucks EBT card is sent to the correct address.
For more information about the Washington SUN Bucks Summer EBT Program, please visit the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services website at: https://www.dshs.wa.gov/sunbucks

Will you have a 7th Grader Next Year?
In Washington State, the Tdap vaccine is required for school attendance in grades 7 – 12. The Tdap is a booster vaccine which continues to protect your child against the tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis diseases they were immunized against as young child. All scholars attending grade 7 must have one dose of Tdap vaccine given at or after age 10 to be valid for school entry, or have a valid Certificate of Immunization Exemption form on file before September 2024.
To update your scholar’s Tdap immunization record at the school, you will need to turn in a medically verified immunization record. Current immunization requirements do not allow parents to self- report immunization dates. You will need to collect one of the following and turn it into the school nurse before the first day of school:
- A completed Certificate of Immunization Status (CIS) signed by a health care provider. Find the CIS form by visiting https://www.doh.wa.gov/SCCI and clicking on “Certificate of Immunization Status.”
- A CIS filled out and signed by the parent/guardian with medical records attached.
- A CIS printed by a health care provider or school from the Washington State Immunization Information System (WAIIS).
- A CIS printed from MyIR which is a free Department of Health online tool that allows families to view and print their official immunization records themselves. Go to https://wa.myir.net/register to begin the sign-up process.
- An Immigration Immunization Certificate signed by a physician.
- A printout of a Department of Health Immunization form from another state.
- A completed Certificate of Exemption form.
The Washington State immunization rule changes can be found at

Please have a safe and happy summer, and we look forward to seeing you in the fall!
