Mohegan Update 11/27
November 27, 2024
Thanksgiving is a very special holiday. It is a day to give thanks and spend time with loved ones. There are no materialistic distractions like other holidays. It is a day filled with the 4 Fs: Food, Family, Friends and Football. As we celebrate this Thanksgiving, I want to share my appreciation and gratitude for the dedicated staff at Mohegan Elementary School. Everyone, regardless of their role, plays an important part in the development of our students. I also want to thank the parents for all their support and help at home. We could not do what we do without you. Thank you. I wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving.
WINTER CONCERT
Our winter concert will be Friday, December 13th. There will be 2 performances: one at 9:30am and one at 2pm. Each grade level will perform 2 songs. The concert will take about an hour or so.
FOOD AND CLOTHING DRIVE
Mohegan School will once again be collecting items for the holidays this season. There are many ways to help those in need during the holidays and Mohegan Elementary School wants to ensure our students know the joy of giving to others during the holidays.
Here is the list of food items requested:
Pre-K - Granola bars, baby food
K - Pasta, tomato sauce, Spaghetti-Os, canned pasta
Grade 1 - Canned soups, boxes and cans broth
Grade 2 - Canned vegetables, canned fruit
Grade 3 - Rice, tuna fish, boxed potatoes, stuffing
Grade 4 - Peanut butter, jelly, jam
We will do a clothing drive as well. Here are the items we are collecting:
Pre-K - Socks
K - Underwear (boys and girls)
Grade 1 - T-shirts (boys and girls)
Grade 2 - Gloves or mittens
Grade 3 - Winter hats
Grade 4 - Small stuffed animals ($5 or less)
We are also collecting gently used coats. We will accept children or adult sizes and donate them.
You can bring in these items any time until December 13th.
Finally, we will have our annual “What Will Mr. Coppola Wear?” contest. Students will see 3 costumes that Mr. Coppola might wear for a day. Students vote on their favoirte costume by bringing in cash donations. The costume that raises the most money wins! That contest will happen December 9-13th. The winning costume will be announced at the 2pm winter concert.
PBIS SCHOOL WIDE REWARD
Any student with 1 or fewer office referrals in the month gets to participate in the monthly school wide PBIS reward. This week the students enjoyed BINGO day! December’s school wide monthly reward is… MOVIE DAY!
PBIS RAFFLE WINNERS
There was no raffle this week. We will select a raffle winner next week.
