August 2024 Edition
Kindergarten Placement and Staggered Entry
Each Kindergarten child will attend only one day of school during the first week of school, August 27-August 29. This allows for more individualized attention for each Kindergarten child and a smooth transition into school. Parents are invited to walk their child on their assigned day to the classroom at 9:30 am after our Grade 1-5 students have arrived.
Before and After School Care
We are excited to operate our own Bryan Road ES before and after school child care! This program will have a STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) focus, fun indoor and outdoor games, homework time, and a snack. There is a $15 registration fee for either program.
Before School Child Care - Monday-Friday from 7:00 am - 8:45 am, $94.65 per month
After School Child Care - Monday-Friday from 3:45 pm - 6:00 pm, $107.17 per month
If you would like for your child to participate in this great program, please register during the Open House. For more information, please contact Jennifer Lanner (jlanner@wcpss.net) and Colleen Tangherlini (ctangherlini@wcpss.net).

Student Parent Handbook
Wake County Public Schools has created this handbook to help you and your child understand the rules and expectations in school, on the way to and from school, and at school-sponsored activities. We encourage your to discuss those rules and this document with your child.
School Meal Increase
The Board approved a 25-cent price increase for school meals for the 2024-25 school year. At elementary schools, full-paid breakfast will be $1.75 and lunch will be $3.50. At middle and high schools, full-paid breakfast will be $2.00 and lunch will be $3.75. The price increase is necessary to cover rising costs of food, supplies, and wages and benefits for staff. Learn more.
Free or Reduced Lunch Application
To receive free or reduced-price meals for the 2024-25 school year, families must submit a meal benefits application online at MySchoolApps.com. For families who completed the 2023-24 meal benefits application, the benefit continues for their student's first 30 school days of the 2024-25 school year. For every student who turns in the free and reduced lunch application and qualifies, the school receives federal funds that benefit the students and teachers at the school.
PTA and You
All parents and staff members are encouraged to become active members of the Bryan Road Elementary School Parent-Teacher Association. PTA is a crucial part of student activities and learning through volunteer and fundraising opportunities. Learn more at BRES PTA.
Boosterthon Fun Run Volunteers
This year our Fun Run will be parent-led with more opportunities for families to participate and earn more for our school! This means, we need your help! Please consider volunteering for our Fun Run September 30-October 9th! Planning will begin as school starts (maybe before!)! Interest Form
Serve as a Volunteer
We welcome parent and community volunteers to support our classrooms, special events, and field trips. All WCPSS parent and community volunteers are required to register through the MyVolunteer System (WCPSS volunteers).
Families who were approved to volunteer in the 2023-24 school year received an email on June 1 outlining the simple volunteer renewal process for the 2024-25 school year. We encourage all 2023-2024 approved volunteers to renew their volunteer status during the renewal window, July 1-Oct. 1. Review details at wcpss.net/volunteers.
Bus Delay Notification System
Starting this school year, parents of students who ride the bus now can receive up-to-the-minute notifications via text and/or email when their child’s bus is delayed. The system has been piloted in a number of schools this spring and has worked well, saving staff time and providing parents information quickly. To receive the notification messages, parents will need to make sure they have given permission to receive text and/or email notifications via SchoolMessenger. Bus delays also can be viewed by clicking on the Live Bus Updates link on an individual school’s transportation page, or by visiting wcpss.net/busupdates. Parents also can still track their child’s bus using the Here Comes the Bus app. Learn more.
