Chisholm Update
August 30, 2024

Happy Friday Chisholm Families!
Sometimes shorts weeks can feel long or extra busy, but this one has kinda flown by. Maybe that is because we are starting to settle into the routine of being at school. The cooler weather we've experienced this past week and the start of another football season has got me excited for fall.
Today we had our first Charge Up in the media center and it was great to see the school come together for this weekly event. If you follow our school page on Facebook or Instagram, you can get a glimpse of what Charge Up looks like. The students did a great job signing the school song, We Are The Future, and they will only get better as we get more practice throughout the year.
This coming Monday, September 9th, we will have our first PTO meeting starting in 9:00 in the cafeteria. We would love to have you join us if you are available, and we will post the minutes from this meeting and future meetings throughout the year.
As I mentioned this last week If you are interested in learning more about Boy Scouts and possibly signing up your student in this organization, there will be an informational meeting for parents on Monday, September 16th at 6:00 in our cafeteria.
One of the school-wide prizes for our fundraiser was a Picnic on the Playground, which has been scheduled for Thursday, September 19th, from 5:00 to 7:00 on our playground. Families that wish to participate can bring their food and enjoy an evening playing on the playground and socializing with other Chisholm Families. We won't have food trucks on site this evening, but we are looking to secure a couple of dessert food truck for the night of the event. We will have music from a sound system and hopefully beautiful weather for our picnic of the playground.
Chat-n-Chew
I added a link for information regarding Chat-n-Chew for this school year. Chat-n-Chew is a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade book club for students that wish to participate. Chisholm has partnered with Best of Books in Edmond to make ordering the grade level books easy for those to participate. The 4 books for each grade level and the dates these books will be discussed during lunch can also be found by accessing this link.
Edmond Memorial is hosting their first home football game tonight at 7:00 vs. Deer Creek. I reminded the kids today of their policy that students attending the game have to sit with their parents and not bring footballs since they won't be able to play side games at the stadium.
Have a great weekend!

Dismissal Reminders
At the end of the day, we ask that early checkouts happen before 3:00. If your student is a 33rd Street Walker, they should live in Old Farm or Thornbrook. If your student is a Spring Hill Walker, they should live in the Springhill Neighborhood or the subsequent neighborhoods that are too close to receive bus transportation. Students that ride a bus will load from the gym once their bus arrives at school. If you need specifics on bus numbers and times please click this link, which will ask you to fill out your address.
Car Riders will need to use the Red Hangtag, which was given out at Meet the Teacher. (If you were unable to attend Meet the Teacher, our office is open 8-3:30 on Wednesday August 14.) Please be sure to make sure this tag is visible to the person out front entering the number by our marquee. Once their number has been entered, students will come out of the building by the first grade hallway and be positioned by one of the concrete bollards numbered 1-6 (please be sure to stay out far enough aways from the bollards so your car door doesn't get dinged). If you don't have your hangtag, you will need to pull in and check your student out from the office. There is a button below that goes through the Car Rider procedures.
